Jets Plan to Use Franchise Tag on LB David Harris

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New York Jets intend to use its franchise tag on inside linebacker David Harris.

Jets wide receivers Braylon Edwards and Santonio Holmes, as well as cornerback Antonio Cromartie, are also scheduled to be free agents.

According to Mac's Football Blog's franchise tag projections, the Washington Redskins leveraging of the uncapped year by superseding DeAngelo Hall's contract, elevating his salary number to $18.8 million in 2019, resulted in nearly $5 million increase in the cornerback franchise tag number.

That tender will go from $9.566 last season to nearly $14.354 million in 201.

The Dallas Cowboys leveraging the uncapped year in Miles Austin's six-year, $54.099 million contract extension that included a $17.078 million base salary in 2010. As a result, a $9.521 million tag number in 2010 will increase to nearly $12 million in 2011.

Meanwhile, the tag number for linebackers has a slight increase, going from $9.68 million to just over $10.1 million in 2011.
