Stupid Offseason Packers Content We May or May Not See This Summer

In a 24/7 news cycle, expect some head-scratching stuff when there’s so little actual news.

If you follow Packers.com, you probably have heard this stretch between OTAs and the start of training camp is sometimes called “the Dead Zone.” Sometimes it’s referred to as “the Baloney Zone.”

There’s a lot of BS – er, baloney – out there. Oh sure, there’s some stuff to monitor, such as Green Bay cornerback Keisean Nixon publicly saying he wants a raise when the back half of his 2025 didn’t exactly … um, solidify him as a QB1 in the NFL. And, of course, keeping up with Micah Parsons’ recovery is important to 2026, not to mention the injury recovery timelines for Tucker Kraft, Devonte Wyatt and Zach Tom.

But, in general, the best advice at this time of year is to avoid rankings, proposed trades or signings (especially steer clear of headlines that use the word “urged”), predictions and most headlines that take the form of a question. This ain’t Jeopardy.

For fun, I thought I would compile some, for lack of a better term, projections on just how silly it might get leading into training camp, which kicks off July 29. Enjoy the faux headlines and content ideas.

-Comparing the Packers’ 2026 draft class with the 1976 draft class.

-One-on-one interview with Micah Parsons’ left knee.

-Packers predicted to sign Joey Bosa, Jadeveon Clowney, Von Miller, Kyle Van Noy and Haason Reddick as insurance for Micah Parsons’ early-season absence

-Packers “urged” to sign Brandon Aiyuk.

-Packers “urged” to sign Terrion Arnold.

-Packers “urged” to ban beer and brats from Lambeau Field.

-Packers “urged” to move to Hammond, Ind.

-Tucker Kraft predicted to start throwing away his trash in the dumpster behind Stadium View Bar.

-Watch: Video of Jordan Love answering most Googled questions about him. (Oh wait, that’s a real thing.)

-Kroll’s West vs. Kroll’s East: The Final Showdown

-Jordy Nelson reportedly eyes un-retirement.

-Green Bay rumored to be planning Martellus Bennett statue next to Walnut Street Bridge.

-Heart-warming feature story on Tom Silverstein and his seven cats.

-Packers to release new short film: “Being Cliff Christl.” (OK, I admit I would 100% watch this.)

-Could Brendan Sorsby be Jordan Love’s replacement?

-Luke Musgrave “urged” to consider a career in construction. (Sorry, that was mean.)

-Aaron Rodgers confirms he has consumed so much Ayahuasca that he has forgotten how to spell “Ayahuasca.”

-Dianna Russini allegedly has ice cream cone with unnamed NFC North strength and conditioning coach

-NFL to add hydration breaks after every series.

Again, this exercise is just for fun. Although it did dawn on me as I was wrapping this piece up that this very article could probably make it onto the list. Because, really, what was the point? Call it off-season irony, I guess. Is it August yet?

Gotta say you’ve got a firm grasp on the nonsense.
Nixon is no CB1.
Back when newspapers/sports sections were a thing, we’d hungrily skip to any kind of Packer article at this time of year. Absence and the heart and all.
But for me, the anticipation is a lotta fun. Better than any kind of ketchup.
Hold, hold, hold….
Unleash hell!

Some content we can all get behind.

The current championship drought for other NFCN teams is Bears, 40 years, Vikings 65 years, and Lions, 69 years.

"-NFL to add hydration breaks after every series."

Since there are usually commercials then, I already participate.

How about, "51 Surprise Packers Training Camp Trade Candidates"

I take uh hydration or are they dehydration breaks throughout the game . Why not the NFL players? Be nice seeing them slug down something other than Gatorade.

Actually, I can think of @ least 7-8 topics we could take an authentic deep dive into during this quiet phase but Packer's PR has such a stranglehold on discussions of real concern (which may illuminate the 7-year malaise) that one exposes oneself to an onslaught of attacks from their aggressive, ever-ready right flank.

Deep Dive #1:
Mark Murphy's power grab and the deleterious effect it has had on the team.

Deep Dive #1A:
The effect his influence has had on the 'Board', many of whom are cronies, businessmen, developers and Title-town focused, not football-

Deep Dive #1B:
The current acceptance of lack of accountability from the Top down

Deep Dive #1C For example: MLF allowed to make same mistakes every year x 7 w/o anyone holding him accountable
'
Deep Dive #1D: Gutekunst is allowed to enjoy his 'favorite time of the year', squandering too many early round picks on guys that only he can appreciate as he apparently has 'insight' other GMs do not have . Result: few Pro-Bowl caliber players, poor Vet depth, shaky Lines

Deep Dive # 1E Lengthy retention of failed coaches: Menenga, Barry, Bisaccia, Stenavich, Butkus

Deep Dive #1F Packer's team strength and competence is secondary to the building of Titletown and likely provides funding.

Deep Dive #1G: Packer secrecy/lack of transparency: Concealment of salary/length of current contracts awarded to Gutekunst, MLF, Ball. The extensions of the aforementioned are not tied to results.

All of the above are fall-out from Mark Murphy's power grab in 7-8 years ago.

Titletown will become irrelevant @ this pace.

Out there in the real world a board of directors is there to support their CEO, not to run the company. A compliant board is the rule, not the exception. You hire the CEO to run the project, then you help/support them.

I'm not a fan of Mark Murphy or his inserting himself into football operations, but his actions were not outrageous, it's just that he thought himself smarter than he actually was. As Clint Eastwood used to assert "a man's gotta know his limitations".

In other words, it's not the structure, it was the guy.

Ah, what an agenda driven, extremist view, NFLfan.

There was no power-grab, it existed only in your head. Green Bay did very well under Mark Murphy's stewardship. I think he was a fine CEO. You didn't like the structure he imposed on the GM and HC, fine. In practice, it worked.

You may hate the money-making aspect of Green Bays CEO and board, but it is crucial to make enough money to continue to be competitive with billionaire-owned teams.

The one point I did have some agreement with was LaFleur keeping coaches who did not seem to be succeeding well. Fortunately, the loss of Hafley triggered several changes, which I saw as an overall positive. Yes, we still have Stenavich as OC and Butkus as O line coach, when I'd like Stenavich back where he was and Butkus gone.................but in how much detail do you understand Stenavich's role......in fact does anyone outside the organisation really know what his resposibilities are ?

Finally, what your version of accountability REALLY means is you wanted Mark, Brian, Russ, Matt sacked....and because they were not, you decided there was no accountability. There was and is, but it's not your version. There are many examples of teams having the kind of quick-hook you espouse, usually they are among the bottom feeders in the NFL.

Green Bay doesn't do knee-jerk reactions and given their record over the last 35 years I can live with that. Only the Pats and Steelers had more wins than the Packers over that time and even the best team (Pats) only had 4 more wins, which over 35 years is nothing. The Chiefs (in 4th place) were 18 wins behind the Packers......and the Packers won 168 more games than the Browns.

We support Title Town, not Entitlement clown from LaLaland.

I went one better...........no need to read history when you have lived through it.

You certainly lived up to the title of this piece - "Stupid Offseason Packers Content We May or May Not See This Summer".

Only you could take a fun little article and channel it into Agnew's "Nattering Nabobs of Negativism". And the effort you put into it is impressive. Great job!

Please start following Hafley and the Dolphins like you promised.

Fangirl, what's holding you back from doing a deep dive on any of your suggestions? You have the resources at your fingertips, and seemingly the time to write. Do it! Blog. Substack. Newsletter.

Are you upset enough to do anything yourself or do you need someone else to do it for you?

It is the guy-- National media is not allowed access, local beat reporters know there will be 'repercussions' if they explore this phenomenon so most of them dance around the edges. Because no one discusses it, it has been allowed to continue like any authoritarian belief system does. The Packers are in decline as a result of this regime.

I troll nearly everything Packers in whatever space I can find. I find some of the 'content' to be downright unhinged. What starts as a clear fantasy on one site turns into a 'rumor' on another and away it goes. The Josh Sweat thing won't die, as an example. The Packers have a good number of edge people available, so taking on a big contract for a part-time player is really off the wall, Arizona connections or not.

Over time you can smell the phony 'updates' when the clickbait headline screams some inane action.

The smart thing to do for some sites is to simply shut down for awhile until something real happens. There are a couple of sites on You Tube I refuse to go to now after seeing the nothing burger they produce from a massive headline. The self-loving NFL Live on ESPN is off the air more times than on recently, as they have found not enough content to fill an hour. They used to bring in 3 guests to talk about something, then have three more guest discuss the same topics the next day. They finally figured out it was an irritating snoozefest.

There isn't enough interesting content to fill every day during the off season, like it or not.
