A good defense starts up front. The Packers need help on the DL in a big way. I have heard Gute say a few times he really liked the DL room. What would make him say such bullshit. With Barry as our DC this defense will never be any good. His schemes with 2 DL and mostly zone coverages hasn't worked. MLF, Gute, and Murphy have no balls . If Rodgers stays on the team they should name him the head coach and GM. Rodgers runs the show anyway. Such a shame the FO bows down to Rodgers.

I'm trying to understand what consistency is.....

KC gives up two fewer points than the Packers over 17 games, so they have a Championship Defense whereas the Packers are just inconsistent.

KC gives up 30 a bunch of times, Green Bay does once, but Green Bay is inconsistent. 16 out of 17 opponents couldn't get past 28. 11 couldn't get past 24. 8 couldn't get past 20. But that's inconsistent.

We will return just about every contributor from last year's AVERAGE defense. We'll be running the same schemes, same playbook. We'll get Stokes back, and Gary. It's entirely possible that Walker and Wyatt will be better their second year.

This Barryhysteria boggles my mind, as does the annual denigration of the defense. Yes, the same defense that gave up 20 in our biggest game of the year, and which gave up 6 in a playoff loss the year before. That defense.

KC does not have a Championship Defense, they have a team Defense that happened to win a Championship. Their Defense did not win the Championship, but it did play to the needed level at the right time.

The debate over the two with how each are recognized should come to the conclusion that neither were Championship level, and any argument otherwise is simply biased or total homer-ism.

The other factor is teams played that have the capacity to score 30. I don't think the Packers played as many as the Chiefs. Again, this is open to bias and homer-ism.

So they won a Championship without a championship defense. OK. So, can we please quit saying that the reason we don't win is because our defense isn't championship level? Because obviously, you can win a Championship with an average defense. It just happened.

The Packers played a lot of good offensive teams this year. Buffalo, Philadelphia, Dallas, Detroit (twice), Minnesota (twice).

People see what they want to see Taryn. That goes for you, and it goes for me.

the net is that the Packers didn't score enough points. didn't make enough first downs, and didn't control enough clock (which isn't that big of an indictment in my opinion)

points is a huge deal. something has to happen on offense, the defense is what it is.

Maybe the Packer's defense didn't give up that many points. But it depends on WHEN they give up the points. This season always seemed like just when they needed a stop they didn't get it and the opponent scored, like the Giants, Titans, Lions twice, Jets. With an offense that was not putting up points like in the past, the defense was counted on to keep them in games and when needed, they didn't get the job done. Unlike KC's defense in the SB, in the 4th quarter, when it mattered the most, they got the job done.

I agree that good defense starts up front but the DC needs to know what his players are good at. Berry is a heavy zone scheme DC and yes I agree that zone needs to be used especially with more running QBs but the problem is this defense was set up to play man. Berry did not have Alexander follow Jefferson the first game because he was running a zone. We got burned. The second game was heavy man and Alexander followed Jefferson and the result was a win. Berry even after being told to change refused to change. The second half of the season the defense was better because the scheme changed. That was when Gary was out. Berry will never be a good DC and he should be gone but because MLF did not fire him MLF might be looking for a job next year.

I am so disgusted with the Packers, that I have tuned out CHTV and all other Packer news for the last few weeks.

I really hate that we will waste yet another season with Joe "Dingle" Barry as the DC. He was a crap hire - and we all knew it at the time. He has proven his merit (lack of) at every stop as a DC - yet he keeps his job because he is MLF's buddy.

And now we have to deal with the "Prince of Darkness" Aaron Rodgers. His attitude and arrogance caused him to skip off season workouts with his new receivers. So it was not until mid-season that they started to click. Now he is off on his "retreat". IMO - if you have to work that hard to decide if you want to be here - IT IS TIME TO LEAVE.
