Ya great and how many 33 year olds on the team do we need to replace next year and I gee Rogers is another year older and our two fa are out. The pack married the arm of Rogers and said screw everything else

Only if they are in next year's draft. the pack made a statement, we ain't got the money for these guys with Rogers huuuuuuuge contract looking. Better hope he can playnd too

I AM SO INCREDABLY PISSED OFF THAT IM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING BLOWING OFF THE REST OF THE DRAFT!!! GUDENKUNST AND THE SCOUTING STAFF HE HAS ASSEMBLED ARE OBVIOUSLY A BUNCH OF CLUELESS JOKES!!!.........ALL BECAUSE OF A LOUSY 5TH ROUND PIC IN THIS YEARS CLASS AND A 2019 1ST RD PIC IN WHAT WILL MOST LIKELY BE TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OF THAT YEARS FIRST ROUND!! R U FREAKIN KIDDING ME!!!!???? U COLLECTION OF CLUELESS DUMBASSES AT LOMBARDY AVENUE!!! FIRE GUDENKUNST RIGHT NOW!!! HE'S OBVIOUSLY WAY TOO STUPID TO BE GM OF THE PACKERS! either one of them would have been an all world class outstanding pic and would have vastly improved our defense as well as have provided us with true difference maker game changers!! truly elite studs!!............instead we trade back,......way back.............for a measely 5th round pic this year and most likely a glorified second round pic next year..........and trade up to get a good undersized but by no means elite stud in alexander!! how frustrating and underwhelming!! makes me doubt gudenkunsts drafting judgement until further notice.........or for good!!

Unless Derwin James, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Tremaine Edmunds are the next 3 picks, the Packers will get a shot at one of them. I would not have guessed any of the 3 would be available.

on the contrary.........he basically said..."f##k em"..............who needs perrenial possible probowl elite studs when we can get a 5th round pic this year and a glorified second round pic next year and..Alexander! most likely he will be a good player atleast albeit with some limitations such as being under sized. and regulated most likely strictly to playing in the slot! needless to say.......im underwhelmed and very disappointed!! gudenkunst is now officially suspect as a drafter and talent evaluator until further notice or until he proves otherwise! as of thursday evening.............i say thumbs down on his first ever pic! maybe Ted Thompson was involved in this decision, who knows........in conclusion............i ve veen so damned pissed ever since they made that stupid trade out of the 14th pic that i cant hardly see straight!
sherrmann1806
April 27, 2018 at 01:55 am
not really! apparantly he's perfectly fine with blowing off elite stud talents such as james and edmonds for a measly 5th round pic this year and a glorified second round pic next years draft!! oh yeah..........and an undersized slot db in Alexander.

and derwin james don't forget!!!! still stunned and enraged about how this stupid trade went down!! as ive stated a bunch of times in numerous posts here..............this makes me an instant doubter of Gudekunst ,seriously quesitoning his drafting judgement and decision making!! perhaps he needs someone to handle the drafting for him............to atleast be lectured on not picking a measly 5th round pic in this years draft and a (most likely) a glorified 2nd round pic in next years draft over very possibly perrenial career probowlers!! something i would have thought is common sense!! sadly i was mistaken!

I laugh at this draft the old gm lives. Defense will be bad again but rodgers will make play offs for them to blow it. I wish rodgers would leave he deserves better and if he wants a ring it wont happen in cheap green bay. Trade your best corner and do nothing in ftee agency. Its like deju vu but with a new face. Rodegrs is the next marino but with a super bowl.

April 27, 2018 at 01:38 am
yup!!! once again........stunned by the blatent stupidlty of that trade when james and edmonds had literally fallen into their laps!!
i mean............why wouldnt u want a 6'3" 215 blazingly fast elite stud like James.............instead they settle for 5.10and a quarter and 185 pound undersized strictly slot defender because of his diminutive size! once again.........i think i need to see a shrink over this lol................cant get over it!!
GBPDAN1
April 26, 2018 at 08:44 pm
Don't like the trade. Saints will be good in 2018 and the first rd pick next year will be high 20s. This just proves that we're rebuilding, not going for the win now. Had James and Edmunds in pur crosshairs and blew it!

did u watch them this past season? they seemed pretty damned good to me! add to that one of the top QB's in the game and a very good rb group and a very good defense...i most definately would consider them a very good team next year so at best..........we are getting a first round pick in the high 20's........glorified second round pick! and to choose that over possible perenial probowler prospects in derwin James and Edmonds......not mention having the DT from Alabama and the DT from Washington a pic or two in front of them...........with their talent, once again possible perenial probowlers............is absolutely stunning!! i have instant doubts about Gudenkunst judgment when it comes to drafting!! Maybe Ted Thompson was still running the draft!! in conclusion.......very disappointed with all that went down this night! total crap!! Alexander looks like he will be undersized and pushed around in the NFL...........all i can say is...........how damned underwhelming!!
HankScorpio
April 27, 2018 at 06:19 am
"did u watch them this past season? they seemed pretty damned good to me! "
Yes, I did watch them last season. And the 5 previous seasons as well. In 4 of those 6 years, they finished 7-9. In two of those 6 seasons, they finished 11-5. That's more down than up. Maybe last year was the new norm for a team with an aging QB that looks like he's lost a lot in his arm.
But probably not, IMO.
Finwiz
April 26, 2018 at 08:42 pm
They didn't want to pay up for any of those DB's at the top, and they didn't want Derwin James.
This has Ted written ALL over it. First round pick next year, but we get what we've ALWAYS got this year.
Bottom tier talent and NO difference makers.

Just saw a picture of the Packers draft room and Thompson was right there in the middle. This was Thompson guiding him. I've totally lost all confidence in Gutekunst right now.
Last year didn't tell him RODGERS IS ALL THEY HAVE!!!!!!!!!!
sherrmann1806
April 27, 2018 at 01:44 am
exactly right!! and u know whats going to happen over the next few years.....the elite studs they passed over such as James and Edmonds are going to clean their clocks whenever they play them!!
sherrmann1806

it sure seems like it!! I don't understand what the issue is about not drafting explosive elite stud athletes! yet the packers always seem to end up doing that!

New Orleans might be drafting 28-30 next year. Basicall, a 2019 second round pick, which is worth a 2018 third.

And NO might be drafting around 14 next year.
sherrmann1806
April 27, 2018 at 01:47 am
i disagree completely! how can u say that..........they have a loaded defense and great QB and immensely talented running backs! all they need are some wide receivers to restock their passing game and they will once again be one of the best teams in the league!! i would be surprised if the draft choice they get from the Saints will be in the mid to high 20's! basically a glorfied second round pic!
HankScorpio
April 27, 2018 at 06:22 am
"i disagree completely! how can u say that."
It was easy. All I had to do was pay attention to their recent norm instead of their exception. I was going under the theory that considering more information is better. Generally speaking, that's not a bad theory to follow.

Oppy
April 26, 2018 at 09:09 pm
Rookie GM just moved back 4 spots and traded a 3rd round pick for an extra 5th rounder and an extra 1st round pick in 2019.. and got a player with massive upside that a few mocks had us taking at 14.
Rookie move. lol.
NickPerry
April 26, 2018 at 09:28 pm
You know Oppy the Packers need that 3rd this year. I suppose with two 4th rounders, four 5th rounders, two 6th rounders and now three 7th rounders we could move up a few times....It's either that or he's getting ready to turnover this roster big time.
Oppy
April 26, 2018 at 09:45 pm
Or, we could really use two first rounders next year, in a draft where the talent is supposed to be more top heavy than this crop. Then again, maybe they trade that 1st rounder to move up in the 2nd and grab a 3rd.
Just have to wait and see.
I think it's pretty clear that the Packers got immense value today. Things worked out very well from a value perspective.

Alexander was a second rounder at best...too short and durability issues. Massive upside means nothing if he can't stay on the field.
Oppy
April 27, 2018 at 01:49 am
Stop with the durability issues. He had injuries in 2017. Two different injuries. He doesn't have a repeating history of injuries throughout his career, he doesn't have a history of recurring, similar injuries. He's not injury prone. He doesn't have any sort of history that suggests he has durability issues.
He plays football. People who play football get injured.
Do you watch football?

You think NO is going to the NFC CG next year? I think it's more likely they are sub .500.
NickPerry
April 26, 2018 at 09:22 pm
I think there's a damn good chance as long as Brees stays healthy. Sub 500?? Man o Man do I wish we could bet some money on that.
HankScorpio
April 26, 2018 at 09:46 pm
Internet bets are a fools game. But they've been under .500 in 3 of the last 4 years with Brees missing one total start in that time. So lots of recent history matches my view.
They haven't been to the NFC CG this decade. So not a lot of recent history to match your view.
Anything is possible. So we'll see what we see. But I'll be very surprised if the pick NO gave up this year is better than the one they will give up next year.

WTF are you kidding me. We need a player right now who can start on defense (DB) and we trade down. TT must have been talking right in the new GM's ear. Didn't we have enough of this before. We get it again!
We better trade up and in a hurry. We can do that too.
BAD MOVE! So we get a number one next year. Big deal. Its not going to help us this year.

I just can't believe this crap. Really. Rodgers must be going crazy unless we move up. Like Chuck Farley says most of the good DB's will be gone when it comes to us. Oops! There goes another. Nice move idiots. Sounds like TT all the way.

what did they give up?????
Oppy
April 27, 2018 at 01:58 am
fthisjack.. they basically gave up a 3rd round and a 6th round pick, and gained a 5th, 7th, and the Saint's first round pick in 2019.
So, uh.. they did pretty good. I think anytime you turn a 3rd and 6th into a 1st round pick, you did pretty freaking good.

Is what it is had a chance for a top play maker so if defense is awful next year only one person to blame and won’t be tt. I’ll wait to see but seems like same ol organization making a qb make them look good. If 2005 doesn’t happen doubt anyone in front office has a job. But it’s only the draft and I’ll save any analysis till it matters when the season starts.

You gotta be kidding me. BG walks away from Edmunds to draft Alexander?
Expect mediocrity this year, and Aaron Rodgers asking to be traded next year.

Maybe they can get someone's 1st round pick in 2022
NickPerry
April 26, 2018 at 09:16 pm
This was a very disheartening moment since I was hoping the Packer could do something this year like the Saints did last year in the draft.
Walk away from James or Edmunds, GIVE UP this years 3rd round and gain ANOTHER 5th and 7th and then draft a CB who was injured this past year and could only manage honorable mention in his own conference in the 7 games he played??
Ain't a god damn thing changed in GB.

Nick... I feel like you do and it’s Friday, now!!! Things didn’t get better after a night’s bad sleep! Smacks of TT? NO!!! This IS TT running the draft... STILL!!! Go to the Packers’ web site and check out all the back slapping being done by the draft and propaganda idiots there... it’s disgusting!!!!!!!!

I'm getting tired of having to do this, but do this, I will.
You understand football players get injured, right? Like, all of them. Get injured. Because, football.
This kid doesn't have a long list of nagging injuries following him around over the years. He got two unrelated injuries last year. That's it.

Who was the writer here talking up House and Williams and no need for CB? My guess is Williams will be the slot CB and this kid will be starting.
And Landry is still on the board!

Alexander has a chronically bad knee.
Oppy
April 27, 2018 at 02:09 am
Do you have information on him having a knee injury prior to last year? I can't find anything.
He had a knee injury last year. He re-aggravated it because they put him out on the field before he was ready. Other than that, I see no history of knee injury.

Falcons got THE BIGGEST STEAL of this draft.
Fuck this shit, Gute you had two chances to get the best WR and you blew it, TWICE!
Matt Ryan gets another top-tier weapon. Rodgers still has none.
Ridley will demolish Packers in future playoffs.
What we got instead? One legged corner...

I give Gut an "A+" for Round 1.
He basically gave up a 3rd rounder this year to get a 1st next year, and all he gave up was moving down 4 spots.
Then he gets Mike Mayock's top corner--not the guy I wanted most, but a solid pick at 18.
What's more, with loads of talent falling to the 2nd round, Gut didn't panic and move up.
Excellent.
