Wow, Richardson and Owens at 4.3x might be Packers DBs? We certainly need depth, and if they also have instincts along with their speed those are two very good traits to start with.

For years part of my draft fun has been looking for odd balls and guys who maybe falling through the cracks due to non football adversity, small schools, coaching dysfunction or simply being late bloomers. Typically most of these a raw talents that have high ceilings and low floors.

Many of these are ones I’ve gone through, mostly here for reasons of athleticism and some flashes that suggest that there may be more to extract there in future. However, all have genuine questions. All are roll-the-dice gamble picks.

Context is important. Some just don’t seem to fit. Cephus is one. Slow bigger possession receiver with a limited route tree who did well against lesser opponents. We have 2 WRs who are very similar already, but more advanced in terms of route running in college. Heath and Dubose. No point in gambling on Cephus as an investment.

On the other hand, Richardson and Owens are players I’d absolutely love in the 7th as they could be steals, but probably for 2025 or beyond unless on STs. They are genuinely raw but with high upside. Rather like Johnson Jr. last year. The problem is that the very high RAS ones tend to get over drafted. Taking either in the 5th would be using a pick I’d rather see made in a player more likely to help this year as plausible depth.

TEN LBs on the roster, not counting those I recognize as OLBs. Gutey's trying to make this position not a weakness!
