In my opinion, McKinley or Queen would be the choice if you could only afford to sign one upper tier free agent. Cashman or Dodson and maybe Kurt if you want to set your sights a little lower and be able to sign two. I really feel these two positions are in need of veteran re-enforcement to help take the Packers defense to the next level. You would also need to draft these positions in the 1st 2-3 rounds, especially safety where the Packers probably need to add 2-3 players based upon how poorly they preformed last year.

Andy great content as always.

However, we both know the Packers (Gute) are very conservative. No way do I see them paying big money for Winfield. Even less so for Barkley. RB’s around the league have been devalued. I know you said “unlikely” and “long shot” but it really is LESS than ZERO chance. They will Draft, Draft, Draft and Develop, Develop, Develop. We might not love this but it’s in their DNA. Besides, the CAP is still not fully resolved. Gets much better in 2025.

I wish you would have gave some salary projections for the players to give an idea who we could have a shot at. No chance @ Queen or the top 2 safeties but the Washington guy is very intriguing and might be like a 5 to 7 million a year guy. Why not at that price. That would solve one problem.

I liked Cashman a lot out of college, Minnesota I believe. I think he was a good coverage LB too. I would take him for the right price which I think wouldn't be a ton with 1 good year. He ran 4.5 @ the combine and blew up there.

A J Epinesa was a stud @ Iowa. He constantly put pressure on QBs and was the king of the stripsack. 5 star recruit, 1st team All American. He stunk up the combine because he weighed 300 lbs. He has dropped 30-40 lbs and looks like a greyhound now. He was listed @ Iowa at 6'5 275 and he had 12 sacks, 4 forced fumbles his last year there. He could replace Preston Smith and he is a good run defender. less than $10 million-Hell yes

Jeremy Chinn was a total stud his first 3 years in the league. Chinn is 6'3 220lbs and ran 4.45 40. A tackling machine and he is huge too. Probably why he played some LB too. He might be a steal. Wonder why they sat him this year. Oh yeah the Panthers. Maybe a prove it deal with incentives. I would take him over Savage for sure. Go Get Him!!

I am a Hawkeye fan which is why I am familiar with Epinesa. The ball hawk Safety, Geno Stone, from Iowa was a really good player for the Hawks. I love the interception numbers and I am surprised at the poor tackling. He didn't have that problem then. It seems like we just hired a new DC who is tackling machine teacher.
