This was on Fox sports -THE FAMILY BUSINESS: COACHES’ SONS FOLLOW THEIR FATHERS’ NFL FOOTSTEPSBY ROSS JONES • JUNE 15, 2014.. The above article is only referencing coaches and their sons but other individuals with names ie Packers have a Butkus Vikings a Kubiak and a Zimmer ( not daddy). The issue here is that there only so many positions viably available. And unless these individuals have gotten some experience playing – most are using nepotism to get their first jobs – be it in college or the NFL – Nepotistic appointments usually involve white sons because most coaches/GMs are white and therefore because there are less black intern/quality control/assistant jobs there will continue to be less Co-ordinator and head coaches jobs. One doesnt just jump in and not every assistant is cut out to be a coach or a head coach. Given the make-up of the current staff and who we need to replace - I would hope that diversity is part of the process.
