Bedard Sets JSOnline Chat Record

Goodness gracious.

Greg Bedard started answering questions in his Insider chat at 8pm edt. It is now almost 11pm and he is still going strong.

Love him or hate him, you have to admire his dedication. And it's one of the many reasons the Journal Sentinel retired the 'Best Packer Pro Media Source' Titletown for the forseeable future. I mean really, go read Pete Dougherty's chat from this afternoon and then go read Bedard's. Dougherty is so obviously there because he has to be, because it's part of his job. Bedard is there because he loves it, he loves interacting with the fans and he has an unbelievable passion for the game.

As Vader would say: Impressive. Most impressive.

I fondly recall amusing my drunken self by trying to set Cliff on tilt in his post-game chats. Everyone well-knew the buttons that could be pressed to send him into a tizzy. The price of the Insider subscription seems a bit steep at times, especially after Cliff's retirement, but Bedard is bringing it with the daily blogs and other content that is making it worth the cost. That and McGinn's excellent draft coverage and in-season work.

Bedard is doing a great job so far - unfortunately did not get to the 3 or 4 questions I submitted around 10:30.

I was most impressed by Bedard's commitment to the chat process. Phrases like "holy shit, my ass is getting soar" not only went through my mind, but also through the mind of a fan posting a question. What a soldier.

"Sore" that is. My ass doesn't "soar." (Or does it?)
