"not official yet, but every report are that Jonathan Gannon will be Head Coach"?
C'mon, Andy, I'm not sure whether to laugh, or cry!
Your reporting that Gannon might be a poor communicator and unable to get his message across to the [players, might make him the perfect fit with MLF! Two peas in a pod!

I don't recall ever hearing that Matt LaFleur is a poor communicator who is unable to get his message across to players.

Hard to get excited about this guy. That doesn't mean he's a bad choice. I'm just looking for something to hang my hat on as a fan who wants him to succeed. I had my doubts about Hafley too, but he was kind of intriguing, at least. And he turned out to be pretty good.

Gannon was a DC for only two seasons. One of them was okay, and one of them was good. Then he had three bad years as a head coach, with bad defensive teams. Andy said that a lot of people who have worked with him speak highly of him, and I've heard that elsewhere too. I wonder what they like about him. He projects zero charisma in interviews (or speeches). Maybe he's a very smart, detail-oriented guy who's good at explaining things. But I'm just guessing.

Gannon is someone for whom getting off to a fast start in GB will be important--not just for the fan base, but also for his defensive players.

I don't worry about how he comes across in pressers. Clearly he could project enough charisma to win a HC job. He has a reputation as being a players' coach and from his days as an assistant for forging relationships. We'll see what that turns into.

That's good to hear. I don't worry much about how coaches come across in press conferences either. But sometimes you see a spark there, which is reassuring.

So far the best thing I've heard about him is that he is very willing to adapt his scheme to fit the players on the team.

LaFleur and Hafley were very good in front of a camera. Hafley actually said things at times that were interesting. Bellicheck was famously awful. He’s not alone among successful HCs.

Ultimately it helps get you hired and win over casual fans—those skills sell to owners in interviews and help sell the team in markets where that matters. It doesn’t mean much behind closed doors or on the field.

It’s interesting that both the players with the Eagles and in AZ were very complimentary, even after tough times in AZ. If nothing else, it suggests his relationship skills aren’t as lacking as some suggest, and the same for his ability to gain respect from his players.
