You're kinda' preaching to the choir, Andy, and I doubt you'll change many minds on the subject.
Now that we know where we stand, all eyes will be on what MLF does with the coaching staff. Some good moves there might help calm the masses.
The kid at the ice cream store thinks he knows football, but just because LaFleur agrees doesn't make him a good candidate!

In the skeptical camp, the most competitive division in the NFL, GB will be fortunate to make the playoffs this year. 9 wins could be their ceiling.
In the hopeful camp, Gute will hit on all his draft picks filling holes at NT, LB, 2 CBs, LG, C, RG, K, and backup QB. Free agents will address ones missed in the draft. MLF will find a ST coach, a DC, OL position coach.
By nature and experience I am cynical, so I will keep my expectations low this year.

31 teams will not win the Super bowl this year. Or next. I did take pleasure in watching Caleb throw 3 interceptions in leading the bears to defeat.

Andy thanks for the insight and your thoughts. I do have some questions that I would like to get answers to please.

Why are you and everyone so high on Jordan Love? I just do not see it. I have watched the packers since the early 70's and I am still not in the Love bandwagon. I think he is slightly better than average. What does he do really well? I just do not see anything. He does not throw a good deep ball. He is not real accurate, underthrows receivers a lot. Seems to make enough questionable throws each game to concern me. When the game is on the line I do not have a feeling of he will do what is needed to get us the win. Look at the 3 bears games this year. He was outplayed every game by Williams when the game was on the line, all three games. Yes, we won the first one with a interception in the end zone but lost the other two after we had double digit leads. If Love was that good and the game was getting out of hand why was he not able to right the ship and get us a play when it really mattered? Williams did each time. No, I do not like Williams but I think he is a better qb than Love. Love does not scramble well at all. I kept hearing he is athletic but I do not see it. He seems easy to tackle, slow and how many times does he slide before the first down? Even this last game against the bears. Before half time we were moving for a field goal. 2 plays in a row he rifled passes straight out of bounds. A few more yards could have been the difference between a field goal and a miss. That missed field goal changed the game but 55 yards could have been avoided had Love not wasted two plays in a row. Then with the game on the line his last pass was not even close to being completed. Who was he even throwing to? Was like the bears defensive back was the receiver. He did not even give a receiver a chance to make a play on that play.

I know Matt gets all of the blame for the late collapses this season but some of that has to be on Jeff as well. If he was as good a defensive guy as is said why did the defense continue to fold with the game on the line? His first year and his second year seemed to be much the same even though we added Parsons. Makes me wonder how much the defense would have regressed without Parsons? I know we gave up Clark but he had a very poor year his last year in Green bay and it was often mentioned him being a cut option for money reasons. If he was that good he would not have been talked about as being a cut option.

Lastly I do not think that Packers are cheap. In fact they are too generous at times. How many huge contracts do they continue to pay and players stop performing? Gary for sure did not earn his money. Jenkins did not play close to his pay check. Love did not earn top QB money. For anyone that says he had such a good year then why did the pro bowl also no feel that way? Williams was in his second year and took a last place team to win the division. Love got to control a team that is in the playoffs each year and he still in year 3 of starting has not cracked a 10 win season. Williams won 11 in his second year in the NFL. Tom got paid and had is worst year. McKenzie had a good year last year but did he make a difference this year? I did not hear his name called or see him in any game changing plays this year. I was happy that they traded for Parsons but not happy that they paid him so much. Yes, I agree with paying him the most as a non QB but did they really have to pay him 8 or 9 million per year more than the next highest paid player? that is a lot of money and could have got 1 or 2 really good players for that difference each year. yes, he played hard but it seemed the defense decided to just watch him play instead of doing what they did the year before. If Hafley was such a good coach then he should have motivated the rest of the defense to play like they did the year before and be much better with Parsons adding to that. I would like to see the difference between year 1 and year 2. It seems to me that there was not much of a difference especially when you add the fact that Parsons was added.

I have always been a huge Packers fan and this year after the broncos game I told everyone that I hoped that the Lions would pass green bay and they would miss the playoffs. Everyone was shocked including my mom, she said I have never heard you talk like that. I just felt like this year the team did not care and I did not trust them. Seems every time the national media is on their bandwagon they play like they just have to show up and the other team will give them a victory. They do not play like they want to dominate. I just felt like they were going to be a one and done team. Well they did worse. They played their biggest rivalry team. The team that called Green Bay out all year. Had a coach that called Green Bay out and talked junk. They had them on the ropes and let up the entire second half and lost the worst way you can. Now all Packers fans have to hear it all year and what is worse it seems the team is OK with that. Yes, they talked like it would be different after they handed the bears the division. Yet in the playoffs they were so nice that they gave them that as well. When will the team stop being so nice and actually want to knock teams out? That is my problem with Matts teams, they play too nice.

"Why are you and everyone so high on Jordan Love?"

His stats are nearly identical to AR12'a first three seasons as a starter. Or at least they were until halftime in Denver. Those who can't see him already earning his spot as "the face of the franchise" are missing a lot.

Is he AR12? BF4? Of course not. I can't speak to those who have said he's more like Bart Starr, but I don't think that comparison helps much either. What GB needs is for JL10 to be the best JL10 possible. The most common complaints:

1) he doesn't play with emotion.

True. A lot of NFL players play best without emotion. Few manage that aspect of their game as well as JL10.

2) Long range accuracy

He shouldn't be trying to thread needles from a mile away on third and short. Nobody has ever done that as well as AR12, and the sheer number of drives that died from him trying to do so is huge. Aside from this JL10 has thrown absolute DIMES, and when it mattered. Accuracy and the pressure of big moments are non-factors, but consistency IS. The first problem (chronologically speaking) was playing behind a leaky O line. That taught him to have happy feet. This happened again this season, he got spooked when pressure wasn't yet really arriving. The answer is better O line play. Wayne Gretzky was called the great ONE because he always knew where everyone on both teams was. JL10 does not. He's found out the hard way that trusting a leaky O line is not winning football.

2)b. He throws off platform when he doesn't have to. Sometimes he even makes the throw like that, but this is the single biggest factor contributing to his inconsistency except in short range tosses. This is the type of thing you can get away with while you're young but catches up with you as you get older. Many skills follow this pattern. It's predictable that if he can't break this habit, he'll never "become a great" simply because he won't have the longevity, even if he has some amazing seasons. So far he's made some amazing plays, had amazing series, and finished one playoff game that could be in the amazing category. This season was not amazing for GB in any good way.

3) My first critique of him was missing the easy play with short easy throws. He especially missed Aaron Jones, in the same year that AJ Dillon improved as a receiver so much. As strange as that was, JL10 has in fact improved at this. I'd like to see more passes in the 5 - 13 yard range, to WIDE OPEN targets. (Not on fourth and 14, obviously) A TE with "a sixth sense" to know when his QB is in trouble and can bail him out by getting open can change games once that connection is established with the QB. As great as #85 is, he hasn't really arrived at that point yet. This alone could change GB's trajectory, independent of HC.

4) My next critique of JL10 was he needs to know when to tuck it and run. "Silly body" is an apt description of how he often looks while running, but he's a good runner. (Not a 4.37 40 time like Malik) JL10 improved at this this past season. He even converted on third down by lowering the boom on a defender.

5) He hasn't made as many amazing plays while scrambling away from pressure as some younger QBs have, including Caleb Williams. He's a much better pocket passer though.

6) He's thrown the ball away instead of getting sacked and improved at this this season. He also had two grounding calls in rapid succession, so he hasn't perfected this skill. Knowing both when a play is dead and what to do when it is is incredibly difficult. I'd also like him to see when #0 gets open, I don't think he looks for him enough.

None of these flaws are enough to move on from him yet, although I would have liked to have seen some wildcat QB plays called while we still had #2, at least on 3rd and short. JL10 has not hit any ceiling and has clear things he can still improve at. The O line should also be able to improve. Our franchise QB is actually the brightest spot on this team!

In the three games the Packers played vs. the bears during this 2025/26 season, Caleb Williams did not throw a single pass while holding a lead.

Now do MLF's stats... post-Rodgers. I agree, Love is the guy, really good and possibly great, and maybe even better than great; however, do we have to wait for the next great QB to be paired with great coaches in GB to ascend out from under the mediocrity mat?

I feel like it's often forgotten that this team has been actively under rebuild since Rodgers was traded.

I do believe a great deal of the derailment in 2025 was directly related to injury and personnel, but I also started to lose some faith in MLF's real-time decision making (wild decisions on 4th down seemingly without regard to down/distance/field position/game situation) and I was disappointed with how this team seemed prepared in some contests.

I also believe MLF's offense is sound and has been proven to be effective even against some of the elite defenses in the league. It's also an offense that Love knows intimately and has full control of at the LOS.

At the end of the day, I have been torn on MLF continuing to be our HC, but I also weigh in how starting from zero with a new coach and a new offense would affect this team over the next three years.

MLF calls plays that the defense knows is coming before it is even called! Too predictable, not creative. Puts the Packers on 2nd and 8. MLF also has 10 throw a bomb into triple coverage on 3rd and 5. What??

Kevin,

Here's a great place to start on 'what you're missing' with Jordan Love.

JT O'Sullivan's The QB School on YouTube. The link below is for his playlists page, with selections for a number of starting NFL QBs in the league.

https://www.youtube.com/@TheQBSchool/playlists

Scroll down and find the Jordan Love playlist. There's roughly 32 videos- breakdown/analysis of nearly every passing snap Love has taken from selected games over the last couple of years, including preseason games, etc.

The playlist videos are generally in chronological order, so you should be able to watch them from early career to this last season. It's not every game, but as stated before, there's over 30 of them.

A well thought out and critical analysis Kevin.
I like Love, but surely have some reservations about him. I did not have a great feeling when he had a potential game winning drive before him against the bears. I must say Reed did not help him when it was essential. But his final throw was pathetic.

I appreciate Andy's position as he works in GB.

However, there is a big difference in Andy's honesty level immediately after he witnesses another failed game and today's version of Andy. I turned off the podcast after a few minutes.

I can't exist on a diet of Packer spin control. Anyone who watched the Seahawks game could see they have an elite roster and superb coaching. That team is the result of their GM and HC. Neither Gutekunst nor MLF come anywhere near that level of competence and yet they were re-signed. This re-signing is a show of disrespect to fans, fans are the ones who pay for tickets, invest their time and energy, etc. Maybe it doesn't matter to them, but they lost this fan. Policy had since July to investigate talented GM/HC potential.

The fans are left on their own. GB media prioritizes access to the Press room, etc over honest evaluation.
I am just waiting for Hafley to get his job and I will study that team. It is over for me.

You mistake the ability to walk away from a raw emotion, in-the-moment reaction and taking a few days to walk away, re-assess and process the facts without the tint of said emotion, and produce a level-headed evaluation of events as they unfolded instead of how they felt... as being dishonest spin control- simply because the evaluation doesn't align with your own.

You need to stop with this fantasy that anyone who disagrees with your take is part of a shadowy, media-wide cabal shackled by the dark powers that be as 1265 Lombardi Ave who control the messaging of literally dozens and dozens of reporters and bloggers.

By the way, I'm pretty sure Andy Herman holds no official media credentials. He's essentially a very successful fan/hobbyist reporter. So there's that.

If anyone takes my post, clearly mocking NFLfan's paranoid delusion that everyone in all packers blogs whom have an opinion that doesn't match his own are part of an organized attempt to control a PR narrative as dictated by the Packers front office, as a "threat" to follow him at his home, work, and to eventually sneak into his bedroom and hide under his bed.. you're a fucking moron.

Was that uncalled for? Maybe, but then again, if you think that was a threat, maybe you need to hear some harsh language to drive some sense into your noggin.

If I had to guess, (sorry if I mislead anyone) I believe he’s Editor of Packer Report. I don’t read it, but CHTV links him with it under that name and links that to a 247 Sports website: http://www.scout.com/nfl/packers/

It looks like he -might- have access via WSSP Milwauke, who mid-way through the season apparently became the Milwaukee market radio affiliate of the Packers Broadcasting Network (It was previously WRNW 93.7 the game, but switched suddenly earlier this year to WSSP apparently)

I say -might- because I believe Herman is not an employee of WSSP as he's an independent and owns his own content, which he also provides across other platforms.. and I've never heard of Herman being in pressers, in locker rooms, or having special access during preseason, etc and so forth. I'm fairly certain all his content comes from publicly available resources- following other beat writers on Twitter, paying for all-22 game tape from NFL.com, sitting in the stands during public training camp practices, and scouring the media for anything else he can find, including inviting guests in the business (both media and football) to talk with him on topics.

In short, he's an independent journalist. He's not beholden to anyone except himself, to he best of my knowledge.
