Andy-I find your honest appraisal of the O-Line and D-Line refreshing. You could have relied on the 'injury excuse' but you talked honestly about the impact of weak trenches on a team.
The lines were primarily constructed by Gutekunst and I have said before that I don't think he should be the person making choices on either Line going forward. There has also been very recent and long-term wasteful spending on the wrong players. Hobbs and Banks are examples of waste when the Cap was already limited. I am deeply concerned that there is no Cap space, no first round picks and Hafley will likely leave, but my biggest fear is that Gutekunst will get another extension with full GM power. There is a critical mass of failures related to him; over-spending on sub-par players, numerous early round drafting whiffs, gambling on Parsons instead of building a quality DL/OL. Players like Gary, LVN, Morgan are other examples. Instead of being honest about Gary and LVN, he blamed coaching. Yes, coaching was sub-par, but new coaching has not improved those players. They are average. There is a level of deceitfulness w/ Gutekunst regarding many of his early rounders. One illustration is playing them too long-LVN, Amos, Stokes, Savage, A Rodgers, Hobbs, etc. A team can't get better unless there is an honest appraisal of each player. A GM can't prioritize his own feelings, his attachment to his picks and not sometimes admit mistakes and be able to move on.
Ben Johnson has drafted better, has stronger coaches and chosen more wisely in free agency. He has already built a formidable O-Line & will likely invest in the DL this year. They are ascending because of these foundational decisions and GB will look worse next year with their rag-tag O-Line- no money to spend on CB's and so on. I would prefer a robust, new GM who is willing to honestly assess all of the players and coaches objectively and build a strong foundation over time, starting with the trenches-it will take time but if the foundation is strong, fans will be patient.

Sadly and unfortunately, I don't think Ed Policy will rock the boat.

And all of the 'apologists' will be out in force justifying continuing mediocrity and protecting someone's job.

Lots of bogus junk in that, along with some reasonable statements.

Andy, it's got to be easier to create good content when the team has a quality win?

My best analogy: this was our Cinderella season. The glass slipper was found. After being deliberately broken, it kept getting chipped away until Sunday when it was smashed into a zillion pieces. Now the coaching staff has to melt it down, be a glass blower, and create the best they can.

GPG! I still love this team, there's talent all over the field, and these are very much less than ideal circumstances to develop additional players but we'll see what they've got ...

Podcasters can create quality content by being brave enough to talk truthfully-there is a ton of content being forbidden (or at least feeling risky--losing access) by Packer politics.
