I appreciate the honest evaluation by Justis. I would rather hear the truth.
GB needs to draft well. I would like Saleh's input re: D Draft choices.
They seem to do better w/FA picks.

With their track record of wasted high defensive draft picks I truly think they would be better trading the picks for some proven impact veterans as in Championship Years Past. The Draft and Develop route for a Decade doesn't seem to be bearing fruit no matter who the D Coordinator is.

I think it relates more to the 1st round picks. It seems Gutey sometimes (often) makes choices
that do not align with the majority of NFL decision-makers.He has been choosing guys with high RAS scores, guys with 'potential'. The last example is Ty'Ron Hopper who was drafted in the 3rd round though is not ready to play.

The third round slot should have been Bucky Irving to replace the scat back profile of A.Jones. CB was the biggest need in the 2024 draft. Que sera sera....

I loved it when the fan question came in about playing more Ty'ron Hopper and Justis gave a remarkable honest answer. No.
At some point in time more people need to start asking more Hopper questions. C'mon Packers, you took him in the 3rd round when the rest of the football world might have looked at him in like the 5th round. What did you see in this specimen that the rest of the NFL didn't?
We're drafting and developing this one I guess.

I think the stage is being set for Robert Saleh to take over as defensive coordinator next year. If you look hard you can see some improvement from Joe Barry with Jeff Hafley but not so dramatic as to say he is "the guy" for a defensive rise for a Super Bowl team in Green Bay.
There have been several prominent, "name" defensive coaches available to the Packers in recent years but they keep opting for the tame hires instead. My feeling has been that LaFleur, and maybe Gutekunst as well, are insecure about bringing in another strong personality on the coaching staff that might challenge their standing in team or public eyes.
But MLF is close with Saleh on a personal level. There's no power or personality contest between them. And Saleh is one of the most respected and proven defensive coaches in the league. It's no coincidence that the Packers jumped to bring in Salih as a "consultant" when he was fired by the Jets.
While he's assigned to the offensive side he can certainly view the Packers defense up close and personal. We can be sure notes are being taken. And I think Hafley knows it. He'll get the rest of this year to show but the injuries and personnel issues the Packers have had under both him and Barry will make it extremely hard for Haf to do much more than he has been doing. And it won't be enough.
