Vincent Jackson Appears to be Staying Put

As part of the compromise reached last week between the NFL and NFLPA, if San Diego Chargers unsigned restricted free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson is traded by 4pm ET today, he can play in his new team's fifth game.

According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, the Minnesota Vikings are interested in trading a pair of 2011 picks, including a second-round pick, and are willing to meet Jackson's salary demands to acquire Jackson, but the Chargers are balking at the trade compensation.

Chargers general manager A.J. Smith wants a third-round pick in 2011, as well, and Cole suggests that request is killing any chance of a trade to the Vikings going through.

The Vikings were one of what has been believed to be four NFC teams that were interested in Jackson. One of those teams, the rebuilding St. Louis Rams, reportedly have ended their pursuit of the talented, but troubled wide receiver.

The Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins are the other two teams, but neither team appears willing to pay the freight to acquire Jackson, with the Seahawks already trading their 2011 third-round pick to the Chargers in the Charlie Whitehurst trade.

Once today's 4pm ET deadline passes, Jackson won't be eligible to pay until Week 7, which combined with his exorbitant salary demands, will reduce, if not completely destroy, his trade value.
