As expected, the New York Jets signed veteran free agent wide receiver Laveranues Coles to a one-year contract.

This will Coles' third stint with the Jets, who chose him in the third-round (78th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Florida State. Coles has caught 459 passes for 5,941 yards and 37 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Jets, ranking in the Top 5 in franchise history in each major receiving category.

Overall, Coles has 674 receptions for 8,609 yards and 49 touchdowns during his 10-year career, which included two seasons, one Pro Bowl, with the Washington Redskins (2003-04) and last season with the Cincinnati Bengals.
