Tucker Kraft done for the season with torn ACL
The Packers worst fears were confirmed after their star tight end went down with a knee injury vs the Panthers

Obviously just a brutal blow for a Packers team that has been struggling with inconsistency on offense to lose their one consistent playmaker.
As Mark wrote earlier today, Kraft was establishing himself as one of the elite tight ends in the NFL, so the injury is painful not only for the offense of which he was a focal point, but for the player who saw his breakout season cruelly cut short. Green Bay is fortunate to have a former second-round pick in Luke Musgrave to turn to, but he is almost the opposite profile of tight end to Kraft, and the foundation of the offense will need to be reworked moving forward. It is not an exaggeration to say Kraft’s injury could end up being the type of obstacle that prevents the Packers from going all the way in the postseason.

These injuries happen in football. To point fingers is just ridiculous and shows lack of character.

Very disappointed for Kraft. I lobbied hard for him during the draft; some bias as a South Dakotan. But I was sure he would be very good.

Well, in print, that sounds inspiring.
Unfortunately, reality tells us a different story.
When Luke was drafted #42 in the 2023 draft, Musgrave was all the talk about being the next impactful tight end for the Packers.
Fast forward...He's averaged 18.5 YPG, and scored 1 TD in 2 1/2 seasons.
This injury to Kraft is Musgrave's last chance here in his 3rd season.
Either step up and be productive, or he finds himself with one foot outside the NFL door.
As Packer fans we want him to succeed, but so far, we haven't seen a lot of flash plays to give us faith.

With that said, all the hype and praise about Kraft is real and earned.
As i stated before, Jordy had ACL surgery, and came back and led the league in TD catches the next season.
Kraft will be back, maybe better than we've seen.

I think the reality is that Musgrave is less physical and more finesse. I think he'll get a chance to play a lot more snaps, but the Packers will need a physical TE on their game day roster. They might think that Fitz can still be that guy, but he's not shown an ability to be much at the point of attack. If they lean into Fitz, he'll get exposed by the Eagles. They have Josh Whyle on the PS--and I expect he'll be elevated this week--but he's more a copy of Musgrave than a Kraft.
Don't be surprised if the Packers have a new TE who's primarily a blocker on the 53 by this time next week.

Hope for a speedy recovery. Very disappointing but injuries happen in football. Just when he was about to cash in as well.
