The Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview

Packer Nation, are you ready for the battle of the GOATS this afternoon?! Join me for today's Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview with your drink of choice for all things Packers!

Good Morning Packer Nation!!! Welcome to The Sunday Morning Packers Gameday Preview!  This week the Green Bay Packers will be matched up against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium in the Fox Featured Game of the Week.   This matchup will feature another chapter of two former league MVP quarterbacks who most consider to be battling each other for the title of the modern era GOAT.

Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, have had multiple MVP seasons and deep playoff runs in January and February.  However, Brady owns all of the Super Bowl hardware and Rodgers has had plenty of NFC Championship game hiccups.  Rodgers has all-time metrics and has made outrageous plays and throws Brady can only dream of.  Both camps are dedicated to their respective guy and each head to head matchup reopens the historic debate of who is the greatest quarterback of all time.

At this point in his career, Aaron Rodgers is a pragmatist and just wants to continue improving every week and give himself a chance to win one more.  He could care less about what the prognosticators have to say and is just having fun and living his best life.  Tom Brady on the other hand, has had every reel of his game film dissected and every throw and decision turned into a headline.

Out of the two, Rodgers is clearly in the better head space and Brady has to prove that he is worth the big contract and can lead the Bucs to the promised land.  Which quarterback will lead their team to victory and put the NFC on notice? I will provide the answer to this question and more in this week’s edition of The Monday Morning Packers Gameday Preview.

In this weeks edition, I will talk about how I see this Featured Sunday Afternoon Showdown playing out, three burning questions that will determine the outcome of today’s game, as well as some fantasy players I think you should use, as well as my picks, parlays, and game props for this week 6 matchup.  I am happy to have you with me here today for this highly anticipated matchup of future Hall of Fame quarterbacks, so just sit back, relax, and enjoy this morning’s Packers Gameday preview with your morning cup of Joe or drink of choice.

What to Expect Against the Buccaneers in Week 6?

I feel like a broken record every week but I see this game being a shoot out with both offenses executing consistently at a high level.  I look for the Packers to have an explosive but methodical offensive attack while I see Bruce Arians giving Brady full reign to unleash the ball down the field at will.  I do see Ronald Jones, Leonard Fournette, and Keshawn Vaughn contributing in the short passing game and power run game.  I also think that if Gronk has anything left in the tank, he’d better show it against the Packers defense.

On the flip side, I see Rodgers attacking the Bucs secondary early and getting the running backs and tight ends involved in the short passing game.  Once the passing game gets going and the Packers have a couple of sustainable drives, look for Aaron Jones to get going and pound the rock at will.  The Packers ability to continuously put together long, sustainable drives will be the difference maker in this game.

Three Burning Questions That Will Determine the Outcome of This Afternoon’s Game:

  1. Will the Packers secondary take advantage of Brady forcing the ball down the field by creating turnovers?
  2. Will Davante Adams be Davante Adams?
  3. Can Preston Smith wake up and create a matchup nightmare for the Bucs offensive line?

Sunday Afternoon Fantasy Football Picks (Always Start the Plug and Play Guys):

  1. Chris Godwin- With Mike Evans being matched up a lot against Jaire Alexander and Kevin King being a game time decision, I see Godwin getting favorable matchups both in the slot as well as on the outside.
  2. Rob Gronkowski- If Gronk wants to see meaningful snaps this season he has to show that he can still be a reliable third down and red zone target.  I see Gronk getting action in both situations and finding the endzone against the Packers defense.
  3. Aaron Jones- Not much analysis to provide here, I just think Aaron Jones is going to have one of those 150+ yard 2+ touchdown games.
  4. Big Bob Tonyan- I don’t see the Bob Tonyan movement slowing down anytime soon, I think Tonyan could be the X-factor that the Packers offense has been waiting for, for some time. Expect him to make at least one return trip to the end zone.
  5. Davante Adams- Don’t be afraid to roll with Davante Adams, he’s back to full strength and I expect him to have a 7+ catch 100-yard game in his return back.

Picks, Parlays, and Game Props:

  1. Anytime touchdown scorer parlay: Aaron Jones, Robert Tonyan, and Chris Godwin (+960)
  2. Two Touchdown Scorer: Aaron Jones (+270).
  3. Game Prop: Both home and visiting teams over 27.5 points (-112 GB and TB -110)
  4. Game Prop Parlay: Tampa Bay (+4.5) and over (55.5) points. (alternate spread, total points parlay, +180)
  5. $5 five team parlay: Ravens, Vikings, Titans, Dolphins, and Pats.
  6. Game Pick: Packers 34 Tampa Bay 31, I think the Packers and Bucs trade blows for most of the first half and the Packers take control of the game at the end of the first half and never relinquish it.  I think the Packers come out of the gates focused and rested looking to prove that there will not be another post bye let down.

Packer fans, I want to hear from you!  Let me know your thoughts on this week's Sunday Afternoon Showdown from the Sunshine state.  How do you see this one playing out? Did you hit on any fantasy or game/parlay picks from the last few weeks?  What are your picks for this week?

I hope King plays. Mike Evans (assuming he plays) is a match up problem with the rest of our CBs.

If King plays, I expect GB to win by more than 1 score. If not, it'll be a nail-biter. Ronald Jones will gash us, but the Bucs make too many mistakes and we'll still win.

We're going to score 30+. Perhaps 35+

If King can’t go I hope it will be Hollman first up. I agree, a healthy King would be a great plus today, but Hollman is someone I think may be good down the road and decent now.

It will be interesting to see if EQ gets significant snaps straight away and how they use him.

I’d like to see Dillon get some action early, make them think about the run up the middle and try and get some width from Jones and Williams.

Hoping to see Clark make a difference and whom they use with him.

I wish we had a Fackrell type to allow P Smith to be used more aggressively. Hopefully Gary is over that ankle, but I’d really like all 3 to be available to go after Brady. Just can’t sell myself on Burks in the cover role. This would be a good game for Keke or even Adams to show up in the backfield.

Hollman fits the profile, there is little hope for Jackson. Maybe King can cover with a safety on top of Evans like Scott, a more physical guy.

With Adams back I hope Rodgers continues to use EVERYBODY and continue to go where the play is designed. As great as Adams is, this offense AND Adams will/can be even better as long as Rodgers just continues to go where the play is designed. Don't force the ball to Tae, you have the hottest and one of the best play callers in the NFL helping you tear up defenses.

I'd love to see some more AJ Dillion in this game, especially if the Packers are up by 10 in the 4th quarter and needing to burn some clock. Play MORE formations with 2 RB's in the backfield, just like we've seen with
Jones and Williams but use Dillon a few times too. With NO Vita Vea, this run defense of Tampa Bay isn't going to be the same. Besides Dillon is BIGGER than each of those ILB in Tampa...HA, that could be fun!

This will be the week the Packers pass rush and Preston Smith get it going. Kenny Clark makes a world of difference when he's rushing the passer. Expect Z, Preston, and Gary to ALL have sacks today. Oh, and Kenny will have 1.5 himself.

Green Bay 38 Tampa Bay 23.

GO PACK GO!

Greene can play more cover and scheme blitz with P Smith as the tandem. Need Gary to show his force.

I would not be surprised if the Packers lost this game. I don’t think that our run game will be enough and because King is probably out and the Bucks have their WR’s back they will be able to pass on us. Even with Clark back, running backs have gashed our defense, so that gives Brady lots of long drives. I think that our pass rush will be key to stopping them. If we get to Brady with pressures and sacks then the game is ours.

I'm curious to see what the team looks after a bye week during pandemic restrictions. Since there were apparently no positives for the team after covid testing, it would seem to indicate the guys are taking the protocols seriously. The X factor to me will be the weather- predicted at 85 degrees, 74% humidity, and a good chance of thunderstorms. The defense better be able to keep guys hydrated and fresh legs on the field. And if there is a game delay due to lightning, how would that affect each team?

The Packers have scored more points on the road this season than at home through their first 4 games.

That trend will continue today. Packers 33-17. Go Pack Go!

We've been without Clark for all but 15 snaps this season, that's HUGE getting him back healthy. Clarks presence alone will create more opportunities for Kingsley, Lancaster, Z, Gary and Preston to clean up against the run and also get to Brady from the middle by pressuring him from the edges into the front of the pocket--(his weakness). If Barnes continues his solid play...the middle of our defense should be able to keep the Bucs RB's and TE's from doing formidable damage. This looks like the biggest test yet for our defense, and I think they'll (the defense) put together their most complete game of the season...especially if King is a go. Looking forward to getting Tae back, and seeing what a healthy EQ can add to the equation. I think our offense will be able to run the ball enough to keep their stout D (missing Vea) honest and Rodgers will take full advantage through the air. Pack 34-20
