Perspective Goes a Long Way: Packers Have Everything in Front of Them
By Luke Leavitt
In professional sports, having the ability to control your future is all you could ever ask for. Leading your division, being a top 4 seed in the conference, and a chance to play for even better standing on national television Monday Night sounds even better. For the Green Bay Packers going into week 10, all the above presents itself.
If all you knew of the Packers came from social media since this past Sunday’s letdown of a loss to the Carolina Panthers, you’d have thought this season was on the brink of being lost. Yet, this Monday Night the 5-2-1 Packers will host the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last years Wild Card Round for a top seed in the NFC. In a week where the NFC’s top 5 seeds are either playing one another (Rams vs 49ers) (Eagles vs Packers), or another top team in the AFC (Patriots vs Buccaneers). Week 10 will provide some real movement and clarity for who is real going forward.
Without a doubt, the microcosms for losing games this year in Green Bay has been worrisome. From forced passes resulting in game-swinging turnovers, to passive play-calling. Overly aggressive play-calling at ill timing, to missed kicks leaving points on the board. Despite all of that, Green Bay sits at 2 losses, atop a yet again competitive NFC North. Of the two, neither loss comes close to the comparison of losing tight end Tucker Kraft. Trade deadline deal for a tight end or not, some players simply cannot be replaced. Kraft is one of them. A captain, and type of personality you simply cannot replicate, or try to recreate.
Green Bay certainly has its hands full trying to make this offense work without a Kraft. Thankfully, there is an offensive-minded head coach who can scheme up open offensive skilled players endlessly, and a 220-million-dollar quarterback who has proven this year he is ready for the moment. Monday night offers a chance for Green Bay to fall back on the two that can make them so good.
Being tied for the most wins in a Head Coach’s first 3 NFL seasons, Matt LaFleur hears no shortage of scrutiny. In large part, a key reasoning for the frustration this season comes from the lack of trust in Jordan Love. Over the past 6 weeks, 25% of Jordan Love's pass attempts have been behind the line of scrimmage, 2nd highest behind only Kyler Murray. The highest paid player in NFL history at one time, Love has proven you can ride or die with his right arm. An offense stockpiled with talent around him, if Green Bay is going to go anywhere this year, Love is going to be leading the charge. A career 0-3 record vs Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni including the playoffs, Matt LaFleur should see Monday Night as perfect timing.
Coming of a 2024 season where Green Bay would finish 0-6 versus teams that finished the season at least four games over .500, the 2025 Packers do not seem to shy away from the moment of good teams, quite the opposite.
There is firm reason to believe this big home game arrives at the perfect time for a team looking for a get back game. With the term floating around of “Frauds,” Monday Night at Lambeau Field vs the defending Super Bowl Champions serves up the ultimate chance to let the entire NFL and everyone watching know, the Packers are the furthest thing from it.
Patriots @ Bucs
Rams @ 49ers
Lions @ Commanders
Eagles @ PackersIt’s moving week in the NFC next week. We’re about to find out a lot about which of these teams have a legit chance to win the conference.

Since becoming the starter in 2023
Jordan Love has registered 92 pass plays of 25-plus yards.
That is the most in that span.

True, but, you don't see the forest for the trees, BNS. See, Murphy hired MLF after having lunch with him at Culver's (they split a concrete mixer and curds) because he looked like a successful new era genius. Rodgers then carried MLF to winning seasons and playoff exits. In the meantime, no one was held accountable for anything. Rodgers was traded. J Love took over. No one except Kristian Welch has been held accountable since. It's been a travesty and quite disrespectful to all fans, especially those with a BMI over 31.
Meanwhile, Getsy and Steno waited to ascend to OC after Hackett went to Denver. Steno was riding the high from playing the 5 best OL (including Billy Turner at LT after Yosh and his elite feet had danced well there) in the playoff loss at home to SF, so MFL christened him OC. Getsy went to Chicago to help the Bears suck. Butkus became OL coach because someone had to do it. There was a Joe Barry ejection and Jeff Hafley arrived with his fivehead and an aggressive new system. Someone has cracked the code, created a blueprint, and drawn a roadmap to defeat said system. Hafley remains an elite coach, however, based upon him not being Barry and his time at Boston College. He's currently on the short list for HC of the 2026 Raiders.
Gute drafted a bunch of D guys, then a bunch of O guys. He brought in free agents. In most cases most have been less than stellar choices. The Parsons trade was a big deal. Micha went missing on Sunday. I'm sure he'll be back. Gute's dad set him up in the scouting world, eventually to sitteth on the right hand of TT, then bought a garage beer fridge and settled in for succession.
There is angst over the cut of MLF's jib. Since he is not the play-calling wizard he was sold to be, many wonder where his strengths lie as a HC. He seems to try to be in two places at one when he's really not anywhere at all, but that's neither here nor there because it's on him and he'll get it fixed. He wishes he had that answer.
Which brings us to Ed Policy. Ed has been doin' his inhouse lawyerin' and thinking about words, phrases, and things of that nature. His dad, Carmen, knew guys that could fit a fella with the cement shoes, but that's not Ed's style. He don't need no weatherman to know which way the wind blows. He has all the keys. Folks say he's watching.
Dan Campbell, KOC, and Ben Johnson unclog their elite nostrils in the Packers general direction and refer to MLF as a tiny-brained wiper of other people's bottoms. They are clearly lightyears ahead as football teams and organizations because the Packers choose to retain mediocre coaches, players, front office staff, and stadium tour guides.
Thing is, the Eagles love a good nosedive, and this Packers team seems to be employing the illusion of unpredictability to keep opponents off balance.
I hope this helps. God bless America.

I do believe this is the longest comment you have ever posted, Leotis. And even given the length, you still managed to keep it pithy.
Nice product! And you tweaked many nerves as my eyes read your prose and created several frustrated smiles wishing the words were not true:
"Dan Campbell, KOC, and Ben Johnson unclog their elite nostrils in the Packers general direction and refer to MLF as a tiny-brained wiper of other people's bottoms."
Ben Johnson at his intro bare presser: "Now I get to go head to head with Matt LaFleur at least twice a season." Ouch.

Which brings me to Slaton and Myers.
Both starting!
I don't mind whims.
But is Gute really thinking about depth,
in case of injuries?
searching for replacements is one thing.
Letting them go- well thats just a case of
Mel-practice.

TJ Slaton I miss, Myers not so much. That Jenkins has not been a major upgrade at C is surprising.

I have to agree. Will the real Packers step forward please? A win against the eagles could right the ship and IF that is to be they had better ABSOLUTELY ROLL the Giants, no more playing down to weaker team's level ! You got that Matt?

Bs call on the kick off last year was the difference and McManus missing a kick.
Refs to afraid to be men and not to throw the flag
If we did that in Philly 15 yards penalty…. I know it and they know it…..and a bs no call vs the Rams .

In other news, there were a lot of people who weren't happy with Gutey for moving on from Jaire Alexander. I wonder what they're thinking now that Jaire has been traded to the Eagles for a bowl of soup...
Cheezehead72
November 07, 2025 at 04:35 am
I was one of those people but not that I thought JA was going to help our defense much it was that it was not cost effective to release him due to the contract Gute gave him. We have too much dead money.
You got to look at the whole story.
marpag1
November 07, 2025 at 05:23 am
The extention was signed in May 2022, when Jaire was coming off a second-team all pro selection for the second time. The Packers released him a bit more than three years later.
True, Gutey gave the two-time all pro a top of the line CB contract in 2022, and yes, you could try to keep the signing bonus smaller, but you think Gutey should have seen Jaire's complete and total collapse three years in advance? You have to pay top players if you want them to sign.
LambeauPlain
November 07, 2025 at 08:54 am
Every single team has dead money now due to the cap monster. The Packers outstanding balance sheet that that devotes all investments to the team and its brand...only limited by said cap monster.
And thank goodness the NFL has the cap monster or the league would only have a few of the best teams money can buy in the Playoffs every year. Packers would mostly be observers...an eternity of the 70's and 80's.
Gutey paid Alexander Market price. He paid Bakhtiari market price. Gutey increased Rodgers pay twice against his better judgement, I believe...being overruled by the football committee and the acting GM Murphy.
Today to keep your top players, you have to pay up because loyalty discounts to stay are mostly a thing of the past. And worse, when the player fades like malcontent Alexander, there are no reimbursements for services not rendered.
Gutey made the correct call to let Alexander the Occasional go. The Ravens got sick of his schtick after just 3-4 months.

Nice write up, Luke. Not sure how your font in black happened, as it was hard to read on green background.
I agree with your point that all future is wide open. Packers are capable, have talent to repeat 2010. While we might appear very harsh after the loss to panthers....it is all well deserved. We have 4 things in evaluating our product; the 2025 version of entertainment; that is...the Green Bay Packers. Are we enjoying 3 hours each week? We evaluate and enjoy because 1) quality of play, 2) the game score, 3) the season record and likelihood of SB opportunity, and 4) quality/character of players and coaches (are they jerks or likeable).
So...it is game to game...and we can only evaluate after the past to suggest the future. Right now, they are losers until they don't. As other articles mentioned: MLF seemed to excuse himself after the game because of Panthers' strategy of keep away ball, and in reality damned himself "we knew what they were going to try to do to win...and that is what they did". MLF's overall record be damned....he is a loser until he wins the next game. So yes, the future is wide open, and yes, GB tends to have a burr in their asses (i.e., motivation) when they face a dominant team....so maybe they win....and if they do...I'll say nice things about MLF again. haha.

Just eliminate the friggin mistakes the the wins will come. GB has the talent, they just need to play cleaner football and string some wins together. This year had been maddening with the inconsistent play from week to week.
I have no qualms about Gute's roster. All teams have their weaknesses and you can't account for all injuries etc.
