IMO the trade obstacle is now that the Jets #1 is too high at 13. So the simple answer is that the Jets trade down (e.g., 20's) and give the Packers that lower #1, while keeping the difference. If that happened, the n Gutey can trade that lower #1 to Denver for JEUDY at WR and OKWUEGBUNAM at TE.

Alternatively, I suggest that the Jets deal is for a 2 and a WR this year, and a 1 next year - NO CONDITIONS. Jets expect to play well next year, so that 1 should be a much lower number.

I don't think the jets plan to part with a one pick. That's the snag.

You're right! They expect to part with at least two, because Gutey doesn't have to trade him, at least not for awhile. Jets will have to cave eventually. Why don't you go back to DN?

Fubared,
That's as of this moment, which is "Negotiating 101."

Of course, the Jets are going to scream from the mountaintops of the NY & National media markets a lowball figure for trade compensation to best establish their initial base offer. The Packers go the opposite direction and point to the high benchmarks recently established in the marketplace.

They will likely meet in the middle before the start of April's NFL Draft.

This trade isn't as difficult as many in the media are making it out to be. Market price has already been firmly established for a QB of AR's abilities & resume.

The Jets will most likely realize they with have to part with the #13 and players, possibly another conditional 2024 pick. There's wiggle room for the Jets, but, not much.

Runaway big talk promoting the Jets lowball figure from the media talking heads we all should ignore right now. Don't give it any energy.

There is an entire month and more prior to the draft, and Jets fans will be going bananas increasing pressure on the team to bring Rodgers to NY. That will be the push, and the Packers should be happy to collect #13 plus players.

That seems like the win-win that everyone on both sides can walk away with feeling good.

I think CW says it best! There are so many moving parts with the trade compensation which also includes the $100 million. There are draft picks, player exchanges, financial, etc.

I've exhausted myself hoping for x amount of compensation that I am just going to simply hope for the best, and sit back for the outcome. Would love to be in that negotiation room.

Bears signed TE Tonyan to 1 year deal. Probably why Packers felt need to re-sign TE Tyler Davis. Packers are most likely going to double dip on the TE position this year. Maybe a third late.

With Austin Allen and Tyler Davis I'd agree we need at least two. Which two will be interesting...

I don’t see us picking up two in the draft. I do see us bringing in another. I will be happy with one potential risk difference maker unless we have significant additional picks through trading back and, well, you know … if that ever resolves.

I agree, some are forgetting that we still have a serviceable Deguara.

Remember Big Mike keeping 6 TEs one year?

I think Gutey drafting two TEs is almost a lock...

Three. They can use #7 picks for the Blocking Sled guys. Get the receiving TE by Rd Two.

Meyer can block and catch.

Which makes Mayer very attractive for sure. While a completely different style of player than Tonyan, I see Mayer as a better inline blocker, but not as good a move catching TE. Both have good hands! Tonyan probably had the best hands on Packers over the years.

The only upside to Mayer is he can stay on the field all 3 plays keeping defenses honest. Having said all this I think Mayer isn't the best the Packers could do. As many have shared Darnell Washington is special, as well as Dalton Kincaid. That combo at TE would be unrivaled & special. I would not be surprised at all if one, or even both were drafted by the Pack. Should that happen I would be clicking my heels no doubt.

In agreement but the good thing is this year's TE talent fortunately matches up well with the Packers greatest need. I think we will be very happy with the outcome.

I’m all for it. This is one of the deepest TE classes we’ve seen. Great year to double dip there.

Got this one a day late, but Majik comment caused me to reflect. We knew we could beat the damn Bears when they whined ans moaned about "over the line." Then DOOM when the Maj was hurt. Then fun football with early Bret. From there it was peaches and creme.

Now we are staring into the void. The difference is that the team is intact and in great shape. Jordan is surrounded by quality. He will still stumble and sometimes falter, but he will be lifted up a wiser quarterback each time it happens. GPG!

Agree with you, Nags on Yosh Nijman's R2 tender. Should be interesting to see how they proceed after Yosh gets an offer, which I think will happen.

Wasn't that QB push always illegal? What changed that I missed? I agree, for the purity of the game, they need to put an end to that Rugby scrum.

NYJ promoting lowball is simple negotiation tactics. I do question the Packers dropped the ball not having trade parameters established prior to Woody flying his boys out to discuss anything and everything with the Packers' player. Mark Murphy actually allowed that, with no controls put into place.

"We're not idiots."

(#@^&%!!!!!) ...ahem. I beg to differ.
