Nags- Being a former OT, I couldn't agree more about nothing happens without the guys up front. Often taken for granted until mistakes are made. Would also add that the DL also helps form the backbone of any team. Yes, a competent QB is required as well. BTW, appreciate your story about your grandmother, loved it. GPG!

I played DT, and you know what I hated most?

A good passing game.

Sacking the QB, denying the run all first half, and then watching that ball sail in the air overhead, with a wide out bringing it down. "Seriously, again!?" To see your giant lead get yoinked away little by little.. Nothing the oline did differently either besides maybe chip blocking me if I was causing issues on that side. Just held me back long enough to take away my joy. No personal sack or tackle % in those games mattered at all.

With the team's many needs on both sides of the ball combined with an already good OL, I do not see the need for an OL this year until say round 4-5. WR's, TE's, Edge, DL, and defensive backfield (you choose Safety, or CB). Oh yea, we also need a back-up QB, and possibly a FG kicker to challenge.

Admittedly, Broderick Jones would be hard to pass at #15, but not if a Quentin Johnston, Dalton Kincaid, Tyree Wilson, Bijan Robinson, or a Luke Van Ness, or a Myles Murphy (examples) were sitting there. All would be huge contributors in 2023.

We dress 9 OL. 5 start. By my count, we have Bakhtiari, Jenkins, Nijman, Runyan, Myers and Tom. That’s 6.

Now we’re looking at Newman, Rhyan, and Walker, and these guys will be starters when injuries occur, and that happens a lot.

Yes, and who is our 3rd WR, or our #1, or #2 TE, or our interior DL, or our starting Safeties, or our back-up QB?

All the shiny toys in the world are useless without the big uglies up front. Big fan of the big guys.

Why you would want OL rookies likely sitting on the bench in 2023 without helping the team out much I have no idea.

Everybody knows that O-line rookies sitting in the bench have a dramatic impact on the game.

Can we please let the equipment manager pick our guy in the third round? He couldn’t possibly do any worse than Gute.

I'm going to disagree here wholeheartedly. We drafted great talent here last year. Not 1st round capital, no. Here is why you shouldn't. To everyone that says without the oline, your defense crumbles. Your right, but you're missing the point completely. Your oline is designed for two things, create opportunity in the run, or buy enough time in the passing game.

Think of it this way, do you put your best guys on the front lines in war? No you put the guys most capable of that direct threat and stress level up front, usually with a veteran presence to keep the unit as one. You emphasize the talent to the goal of the mission. To win at all costs, and that is to make it to the touchdown.

Case and point. Lets say we draft the best TE, Kelce style, and Watson becomes the biggest deep threat of 2023. Are teams going to allocate all resources to those two guys? No, but they will focus them, and create opportunities elsewhere when that happens. And to those that say, well if your o line sucks, you won't even be able to throw it. First off, highly unlikely extreme, and second; what if our weapon talent only needs 5 seconds, or 4? What do you think the check down was invented for? Because every team runs some sort of check down - no oline is invincible.

For the run game, I say good leadership for the oline is the #1 priority then. (Sometimes that's just a coach, and a guy who speaks life when things look grim for a half). Why? Because your oline needs to move as one, fluid and well timed unit. You're not going to beat your man every time for every 5 guys. Defenses throw twists, sometimes they rush and overwhelm, etc. The trenches serve the purpose of taking the initial hits and buying enough time to let the firepower come in and reign. They are an important piece, yes. But they are not the priority.

If you have little to no weapons, and a great trench - you ain't scoring the ball. The package is the #1 priority, and how you want to scheme that and get it to its destination defines how to "recruit" your priorities.

What I’m saying is O-line first, weapons second. If GB thinks the O-line is already good enough, then yes, get some shiny weapons. But to have an inexperienced QB under too much pressure could be disastrous.

I understand that, and the Packers FO of course does as well. But, what is worse for Jordan, not being able to perform under pressure, or taking a sack? I remember seeing a video, where even Joe Burrow said sack statistics are over rated.

Getting the big dogs up front is important 👌 but I have young legs, & I intend to run Coach Matt's offense & make my progressions while throwing in rhythm. Get me some dangerous kick ass weapons on offense & buckle your seat belts! This is going to be a fun year even for Marp, Patsy, & Stockholder. Trust me! 😀

I’ve always been a big believer in the importance of both OL and DL, but assuming we keep Bakhtiari this season, we already have a top-10 OL, we even have a couple of depth guys!

I think DL/edge is far more important, as is TE, and if a great WR is available, like Quentin Johnston, he’s possibly even more impactful.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the importance in loading the trenches.

#1 indicator of which team will win or lose a football game is Sacks Taken.

If I'm Gutekunst, I don't pass on Paris Johnson Jr. nor Broderick Jones. Common sense tells me both should by rights be gone by the time we pick, and so I'd go with the most dynamic skill player I could land, or EDGE.

After looking at the offerings in this draft at OL, there are solid players there to be had R2-R4.

My concern is overuse of Kenny Clark, once again. There is NO REASON he should still be in the 78% realm. ZERO. Therefore, I'd also be thrilled to see Gutekunst snap a top DT in this draft.

Jarran Reed was a big loss. No way would we have let him go if not for this upcoming trade, and our need to clear cap...

As Ted used to say, "God only made so many of those big fellas."

Edge, or Darnell Wright. He snagged Wyatt with a one pick. He's not chopped liver and I liked Chris Slayton at Syracuse. Do Barry and Montgomery know how to deploy these guys and teach a stunt scheme??

Where is there data that says sacks taken is the #1 indicator of which team will win?

I’m pretty comfortable with what we have able to play outside. Bakh, Nijman (presumably), Tom, Jenkins (fully healthy) and backed up by Walker whom I think may be a steal and Jones, who was impressive last year. I don’t know much about Tenuta other than he’s huge and a brawler—if they could get him to beat physics and play guard, that would be awesome.

Beyond Runyon, I do not like the depth in the center. I’d prefer to see Tom tried at C if he’s not starting at T—Jenkins I would leave at G simply because that’s my area of weakness. Rhyan has to prove his head is on right and then that he can play. Newman has it physically, but whether the mental light will go on is a big question mark. Myers could step it up, but I’m not a fan or confident that we can rely on that or a conversion to G. The Hanson crush remains utterly mystifying to me.

I want to see us add depth at G and C. That’s good, because it’s not a good T class or deep. These players can come in the mid rounds and potentially still contribute this year if needed. In the meantime develop Tom, Nijman’s technique on the right, Walker, Jones and maybe Tenuata. That’s plenty of talent on the edges to hone. Use the earlier picks to add talent at the other positions on either side of the ball where we need both depth and ability.

At the 5:00 mark, Mimzy correctly brings up the elephant in the room. It's an overall problem with the money. Overall, it crusted over the path for Rodgers to gracefully exit his elaborate career and hamstrung the Packers in the past year and a few into the future. The T.V. money is $9B each year. Half goes to the negotiated player salary bank. The $4.4B left divided by 32 teams has $140M going to each team, each year for a staff of coaches (highest pay ever) and average workers. If 100 employees averaged $100k/yr, that would amount to $10M each year. The $130 Million Dollars left is more than enough for local leaders to stand their ground against ANY further funding of these teams. It's especially egregious when wealthy owners pocket this (EACH YEAR) while the average Joe pays for their venues. I'd argue, the ticket costs should be looked at also.

There's a few items that are important to note here.

1) The GBP don't have an owner, and operate as a not-for-profit
2) Due to this, they operate somewhat differently than the other 31 teams in the league
3) Due to the unique community owned, not-for-profit aspect of the Packers, they are required to share their books with the public
4) .. This makes the Packers the only glimpse the public gets into NFL finances at the franchise level, since the other teams are privately held, and the other 31 teams (and the league in general) absolutely hate there's any public view into their finances at all

It's all kind of a mess, to be honest
