Packers vs. Vikings Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS Week 17

Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Nagler 8-7 Minnesota Vikings 23-17
I can't pick Green Bay. I just can't. Couple their poor overall play with the injury list and I just don't see it. Now watch them win by three scores.
Czech 11-4 Minnesota Vikings 22-13
Hopefully things get better in the playoffs. Hopefully.....
Bracco 10-5 Green Bay Packers 19-14
There is little reason to pick the Packers here, as they are so banged up and they are in the playoffs regardless. The question is how much do they want a home playoff game? I think they want it badly enough to scratch and claw and find some way to win this game with a strong emphasis on the running game.
Tallitsch 9-6 Minnesota Vikings 23-17
The Packers play it safe and sit anyone with a lingering injury. In turn, they get crushed.
Garda 10-5 Green Bay Packers 19-14
This is a hard one to predict. The Packers don't look good, but they're at home and I think the offense gets close enough to the end zone for field goals to win the day.
Behnke 10-5 Green Bay Packers 60-0
Packers roll.
Jennerjohn 10-5 Minnesota Vikings 20-16
This is Week 17 and the Packers are still trying to figure themselves out. There has been bickering between the offensive line, quarterback and even the coaching staff ever since Mike McCarthy assumed the play-calling duties a few weeks back. At a glance, the inconsistency this team has endured this year has made the Packers look like a 7-8 team and not a 10-5 one. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have a legitimate No. 1 receiver to throw to and that’s not going to make them get first downs any easier in the frigid cold. The X-factor in this game will be the legs of Teddy Bridgewater and his ability to pick up back-breaking third downs.
Perone 9-6 Green Bay Packers 28-23
The Packers rarely drop the season finale at home and they need some momentum heading into the postseason.  They'll be playing hard and to send a message that they won't be an easy out in the playoffs.  Despite their struggles on offense, they muster up enough points and the defense forces a turnover or two to aid in the effort.  The defense keys on Adrian Peterson and is able to keep Teddy Bridgewater moving enough to disrupt the Vikings offense.  It's 11 wins for Green BAy and a home game in the wild card round the following week.
Snowden 10-5 Green Bay Packers 21-18
Who knows why anymore.
Albrecht 9-6 Green Bay Packers 20-17
The Vikings have been hot lately -  the Packers not so much.  The Vikings are healthier and seem poised to supplant the Packers for the NFC North crown. Yet the Packers record is worse than only five other teams.  In a season where nothing makes sense Packers Pride emerges to surprise us one more time.
Reuter 10-5 Green Bay Packers 34-24
I really hope the Packers rest whoever they need, I don't particularly care about the division, I want the Super Bowl. That being said, I don't think they lose this game. Vikings expect Lacy to run on them and have to cover up the Joseph injury, I expect the Packers to air it out.
Olson 10-5 Green Bay Packers 20-16
I wouldn't be surprised if the Vikings win this game, but with the division title on the line at Lambeau Field, I predict that the Packers will bounce back in an ugly game.
Hobbes 10-5 Green Bay Packers 21-10
Packers win it, in anyway possible.
Strupp 9-6 Green Bay Packers 31-14
The Vikings are a year away, the Packers are still the kings of the North. But that gap has closed.
Kruse 10-5 Green Bay Packers 21-20
Aaron Rodgers said his team will show up when it matters. One magic moment late from No. 12 will help back up his claim.

Some interesting picks.

Why even make a prediction of 60-0 week after week. -- Seems like a waste of energy & a bit lazy.

Welcome to CHTV Samson. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here. Nice of you to show up for queens week. Timing is a bit curious for such a great Packers fan such as yourself, but I always like your well thought out and beautifully presented analysis twice a year.

Why anyone who is a Packer fan would pick the vikings to win is beyond me. Packers stop AP, again and pressure TB all game long, again. 24=17 Packers.

There's a big difference between offering a prediction on a website with no repercussions (aside from pride) and dropping a $100 on a game.

We will know in about 24hrs how much pride team has. Have to win this "home" game. Going in to postseason with back to back losses, not good.

But was this really Cow? It could be a cow imposter. A body or bovine double. Nothing negative about GB so I'm picking imposter.

A couple of years ago the greatest post ever appeared on these pages. I wish I could remember the poster and the words verbatim, however, it went something like this:

When you are out driving around this great land, taking in the scenic beauty, and see a field of cows stop immediately. Exit the vehicle, climb the fence and punch a cow directly in the nose. It's the right thing to do.

This pains me. I hate picking against our team... But this time I have to do so. The condition of the OL means the running game will be largely ineffective. The WR are going to be asked to run the same deep routes they always do, and again, thanks to the OL and zero seperation by the WR, Hollywood isn't going to have time to throw.

I think the defense will look good. They have matched up well against the vikes and should be able to keep AP kinda quiet.

Can the D score enough to get us a win? I don't think so. Can the offense score? I'm expecting them to score three times. I think the vikes will score three times as well, but with better results. Final score: 21-13 vikes.

I don't know who's in or who's out. Station Casino's have GB @ -2 1/2. DON'T LIKE IT, but I have them anyway. Also took a Flyer on them for the NFC @ 7-1 & 14 1/2 -1 for the SB. I doubt Very Much you'll ever see odds like this on GB again. I'm betting on the Premise that everyone is playing. I've seen too many Minnesota games inside of 4 pt's. I was tempted to go the other way, but I just couldn't do it. I think GB can pull this one out if the Defense is in tact. I hope it's by at least 3.LVT

dobber, Well, you could be right, but let's hope their wrong like they are 70% of the time. IMO Vegas is getting the money to the side they want it to go. I have a feeling with this -2 1/2 it could be the 1st half or the end of the game or both. Unfortunately GB, IMO usually gets the play @ -2 1/2. Of course I'm hoping Minnesota is getting the play for this game. Most of the Big Handicappers were wrong last week. It's usually a Good bet when a team comes home after 2 weeks on the road. I'm thinking that's the case here. I never said I LIKE THIS LINE, but I Still Back The Pack.LVT

Packers defense plays huge and carries the day. The offense does enough to take advantage of the strong defensive effort. Lacy and the ground game keep AP and TB on the sidelines. I like the Pack 24-13.

I think the run game will be important, but expect the Vikes to load up in the box and take their chances single high safety against ARod and the Packer receivers...just like everyone else seems to be doing. It's time for ARod and the pass game to carry the day, and I expect MM to give ARod the latitude to try to make that happen. Defense will be stout in the red zone and force Minn. to kick FGs.

GB 31, Minn. 16

"expect the Vikes to load up in the box and take their chances single high safety against ARod and the Packer receivers."

Teams have been doing this all year long! That creates opportunities outside and downfield that the Packers to date, haven't been able to take advantage of. Comes down to one thing. Outside WR winning one on one matchups. Adams and Jones haven't been doing it.

Here's what Edgar Bennett has to say. Bennett said of opponents loading the tackle box to stop the run, "you have to take advantage of it downfield. Attack!”

Article goes on to say. "Once upon a time, the Packers were one of the NFL’s most attacking pass offenses. The most demoralizing of all the Packers’ league rankings is No. 31 for net yards per pass play."

Been saying all year, the Packers WR aren't getting seperation, they aren't beating anyone outside or downfield, they aren't winning one on one matchups to get open!

According to both McCarthy and Bennet the key for the Packers passing attack is beating one on one coverage. Something they've been seeing all year but not beating.

If you can't get open vs man coverage, no amout of scheming is going to make it better.

You got it!! --- The WR corp for GB has gone from one of the best to one of the worse in the NFL (w/out Jordy). ------ Janis & Abby !!! Give me a break.

With Jordy, they have the deep threat, the true #1 WR that draws the coverage to him, yet he still made big play after big play. W/o Jordy, each WR is getting better coverage that they haven't been able to beat. Cobb is getting alot of extra attention w/o Jordy and w/ all the box defenders has little room to work in the slot. Adams as a #1 WR has been an abject failure and is a decent at best #3 WR. Jones has Rodgers trust, but lacks the ability to get seperation, so all his plays come from Rodgers throwing him open and into coverage, but it masks the fact he can't win vs man.

I do think Abbrederis, at least at this point, should be ahead of Adams since he can get some seperation w/ his route running and catch the damn ball, but he isn't a deep threat either. Janis is still way to green at almost all WR skills to make an impact offensively.

My Pick....Packers. 1) Because Vikings lost their mascot. 2) A total team effort from Green bay...Good defense, Good special teams and a Strong running game FTW. 24-17 Green Bay.
