Packers to wear historic third jersey in week 3 against Broncos

-- The Green Bay Packers will once again wear their historic third jersey this season against the Denver Broncos at Lambeau Field, the team announced on Thursday.

The game will take place during the week three meeting on Sept. 22.

This historic jersey is a recreation of the team's uniform during the 1937 and 1948 seasons, in which the Packers won two of their 13 world championships.

The Packers first unveiled this specific rendition of their "blue-and-gold" look in 2015 when they defeated the San Diego Chargers at home. They wore these jerseys in each of the following three seasons, losing to the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 and Baltimore Ravens in 2017 before shutting out the Buffalo Bills in 2018.

Their meeting with the Broncos will mark the fifth time the Packers will sport these uniforms, hoping to improve upon their 2-2 record in the throwbacks.

Cool! I always enjoy wearing this unique throw back Jersey representing two World Championships!

Disagree. So darn ugly. I don't care how bad the team was in 1952. That was the best throwback possibility we have.

Blasphemy here: Green and Yellow is not a great color combination.

Think cool Jersey highlights great tradition. Besides, as a long-term 'Big' in the Big Brother's and Big Sister's program my now adult 'Little' took my wife and I to a fun filled expense paid trip to Green Bay and Lambeau field for Favre's first game back to Lambeau. While there he purchased my Jersey (throw back) in gesture of appreciation. Creating even more sentimental value for me with this jersey. :)

See. Now that's just darn cool. Congrats.

Hass to be ugliest throwback jersey Packers have. Makes them look slow and dowdy.

I personally like the 1933 colors.

But if we were ever going to make a major change in uniforms, this would have been the year to do it... new coach, new team, new era... new uniforms.

Ugliest uniform ever. Stick with green and gold.

Very ugly uniform. Painfully bad color combinations. Makes the players look fat and out of shape.

Ever see the Steelers. Now those are ugly.

The pants look out of place and would not look so bad if they were able by the rules to have a brown helmet. What stood out to me on the one photograph was that nobody had the knee pads actually covering the knees. It hiked the trousers up. Ugh.

I love the 1929 version, although the Circle is way too big. Still trying to find a Jordy one. Otherwise 1960s are the best. Darker green!

Ugh, can't even watch while they wear that crap, that'll be a listen in day for the game.

To me "throw back" unis are "throw up" unis. :( I've hated the idea since the (NFL marketing) inception. I always feel like I'm not watching "my" Packers when they are in these gimmicky quasi "old timer" uniforms. Yuck. I know some love this stuff but I'm a stickler for tradition and seeing my players play in the green and gold. That's just me.
