Packers Reportedly Sign CB Antonio Dennard to Practice Squad

Dennard is a cornerback that has spent time on the roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012 and the New York Giants in 2013 but has never played in a regular-season game.

Space was created for Dennard last week when running back Johnathan Franklin was placed on injured reserve and linebacker Victor Aiyewa was promoted from the practice squad.

Don't know who he is, but I know if he played with the Jaguars and was cut and brought to Green Bay. He has a chance to be a good player for us.

Just look at the recent track record of Jaguars - Packers players.

Dujuan Harris, Jarrett Boykin, Chris Banjo and there are a few more as well...

Harris was an impact player last year. Unfortunately didn't get to play this year.
Boykin was a good pick up and has proved to be a very good player.

Banjo was a nice find.

Hey Buster. Did I say they were impact players? No I didn't. Did I say anything to you specifically you fucking moron... No I didn't...

All I said was that the Packers have found some good players that were released by the Jaguars.

Before you keep eating your foot why don't you actually read what I type....

Yep, good point RC. Jacksonville is clueless when it comes to talent evaluation. Right now if they had a healthy DuJuan Harris he would be an upgrade over Jones Drew and Boykin would be their top receiver. On the Packers they are backups to the backups yet there's morons here calling for Ted to be fired.

I agree with you for the most part Longshanks. Apparently everyone hates you and will disagree with every word you say.

MJD is on the downside of his career. He will be a 30 year old RB and that is typically when RB's fall apart...

Yeah MJD's career is way better then Harris's. But for upside, yes Harris has alot more upside. Harris is an ascending player while MJD is a declining player.

Boykin has been a hell of a find. If people don't agree with that, that obviously your not Packer fans and shouldn't be on this website...

I am really getting tired of seeing people coming on here basically just trying to argue with whatever someone says just to start something. Basically guys just trolling...

I come to this website to get a break from my life and talk about something I love. I like to have rational, logical conversations. I don't care if people disagree me, because I am stating how I feel and what my opinions are. Just like most others.

Just imagine Lacy, Harris AND a fumble free Jonathon Franklin next year!! Jones Drew as far as rb's go is on the downside. All Packers running backs all are on the upside.

a) Franklin has to show he won't fumble. He also has to show that he can play in the NFL physically. One good game is not enough.
b) Harris has to show he can play a full season. Yes, he's younger than MJD, but MJD is a great player. Just plays on a crappy team. With MJD right now, maybe MM would call a few more screens...
c) The statement that all Packers RBs are on the upside is great in theory but we shall see.

No doubt. Franklin has a long ways to go. Can't see him even getting much of an opportunity if Lacy stays healthy. Keeping your best RB on the field as much as possible is smart.

There is a thing called rotating players in. You can't have Lacy on the field 100% of the time.

Franklin could be potentially a very good RB in the passing game. They could use him similar to how the Lions use Reggie Bush and Saints use Darren Sproles.

He is a player that is better in space. He has a lot of potential.

Franklin does have a ways to go. And most players take their biggest jump going from year 1 to year 2. I expect a lot more next year out of him.

MJD Was a great player...

He is on the decline. Last year he only played in 6 games. This year he is only averaging 3.2 yards per carry.

2 years ago he had his best year. While he was a great player, he is definitely on the decline.

he also plays on the worst team in the league, let's not forget about that.

Yes, he may be on the decline. But how do you know that what you've seen from Harris and / or Franklin isn't the best they've got? There is hope that they will be good, but at the same time, they may not ever be who you think they are. Just remember how excited everybody was about that guy named Samkon Gado...

And you can't also tell me that if you had the choice, both healthy, that for those few upcoming games for the rest of the season you wouldn't chose MJD over Harris. That's all I'm saying.

Packer Pete, I agree with what your saying over all. But while I agree that he is on one of the worst teams in the league this year, he was still a very productive player 2 years ago when he was on a very bad team as well.

He pretty much has always been on a bad team and was always productive.

Last year he got hurt and only played in 6 games, and this year his average is way below what his career average is.

He probably would be better in Green Bay, or a place where there is a good QB playing. But he is still going to be a 30 year old RB. That is the age that is basically a killer for RB's.

I like Green Bay's RB situation going forward with Lacy, Harris, Franklin, Starks and whoever they get next year...

I would have agreed with you 2-3 years ago. But not now. To me MJD is similar to Steven Jackson.

I would much rather have a young RB with low miles then an old back with a lot of miles.

RB is the one position that you want young players.

Before I'd draft any defensive player, I'd watch as much film on him as I could to see if the guy can make a tackle. It blows my mind that any player makes it to the NFL and has tackling issues. Unless your Dion Sanders. Packers should make an offer to Seattle's secondary coach. I really dislike Seattle , but he knows how to pick em and coach em.

or how to pick them and give them access to certain illegal substances... 2 of those guys are suspended for that right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if the other regulars there are juicing as well but just haven't been caught yet.
I also have to say that they get away with a lot more than your regular DB. All Sherman does is hold on to the WR trying to run away from him, but I've never seen him getting a flag thrown for that crap.

Talking of Franklin, here's one of the big problemos with this team management: he's a fourth round pick, he must be good we picked him and we will be hell bent for leather to cut the guy and admit the Franklin experiment did not work;
Please. He had a chance is pre season to show his worth and he flubbed. He worked himself right into 3rd or fourth place so why would be even think of keeping him.
This team has a ton of deadwood and its rearing its ugly head the last 5 games. Time for some reality checks here.

Yeah. Lots of dead weight.

The last 5 games has absolutely nothing to do with losing their starting QB, and then losing their back up QB.

You know. JC Tretter was a 4th round pick as well. He hasn't proved his worth. They should have cut him as well.. Right?

It only took TJ Lang about 3 years to start after being a 4th round pick. I guess he was a bad pick as well...

I'm so tired of people not giving players time to develop.

"time to develop"

And that, right there, is the problem.
We have Rodgers NOW.
By the time all these young, unproven players develop (if they ever do), Rodgers may very well be out of his prime.

There was a time when I was 100% behind the whole "keep the young, hungry guys" thing.

But then the NFL changed.

Coaches don't have the time to TEACH anymore. There isn't enough contact time with players. The biggest advantage that MM and his staff had over other teams' staffs used to be their ability to TEACH the game to young players... develop them.

The new CBA has hurt teams like the Packers.

With the limited time coaches have with their teams it's become more and more imperative that acquired players are more NFL ready right out f the gate.

Experience is vital.

It's why I feel it might not be the worst idea in the world to fill a hole or two via trade or FA signing... get a guy who's "been around the block" a time or two.. you'll probably have a better idea of exactly what you're getting.

The NFL changed with the new CBA.

TT and MM have not adjusted.

By the way - I bet McMillian turns into a player on his next team. Somewhere where the system is more attack oriented as opposed to reactive/cerebral.

He has the tools.

so who would you've kept? Alex Green? Pease? That Samoan fullback? Picked up a FA RB? Please give us names. I am not a Franklin fan, but based on his college production he deserved a chance. We also all thought that he would be the 3rd RB at best...
What I think will happen is that he will have to prove himself in camp next year and then we'll see whether he will be on the team. I doubt he will be, as I think Harris is the better choice with a similar body type. And the 3rd guy will be either a draftee or someone who steps up during camp of the remaining guys on the roster.

Harris reminds me alot of Barry Sanders but built more like a Jones Drew.

Just think next year we'll have Earl Campbell and Barry Sanders as a change of pace. (If healthy) I can't wait for next year already!!

4th and 1. Lacy really does have the same power as Earl Campbell and I have been saying it all last year that DuJuan Harris is a Barry Sanders clone. He really is. Now will they have the same careers? Absolutely not as you can't have two great running backs sharing the ball especially with Rodgers as your qb but the talent at running back next season is going to be unbelievable. Sure I am having a little fun with this but I really do like those two. I even like Franklin to be honest. I know I would get crucified if I said he reminds me alot of L.T. but I won't do that. For now he's just a rb that needs to work on holding on to the football.

Harris is listed at 5'7" (5'8" sometimes) and 203lbs. Franklin is listed at 5'10" and 205 lbs.

I agree about the effect of the CBA on teaching time and the ability of teams to develop players. If a draft pick can't find the field until the last year of his rookie contract, then the pick was at best so-so. Under the cap, NFL teams need to get contributions from players while still on their rookie contracts to manage the cap.

yeah, Harris and Franklin are similar weights but they are different body shapes of RB's. Harris is more like MJD, where Franklin is more like Reggie Bush in body shapes.

I agree to that the CBA has had a huge affect on teams. The draft and develop style has worked good, but the problem with that is there isn't as much time for coaching as there used to be.

Problem now is that people are way to impatient with players. If a rookie isn't a star the first time he takes the field 'we should cut him'.
There are so many great players in the league that weren't stars their rookie years.
I agree with you that rookies have to be able to contribute, but they don't have to be stars either.
