Packers Pass Game Developing More Options
Packers tight end Tucker Kraft has both of the Packers' 100-yard receiving performances this season.

As the Green Bay Packers head into Sunday’s Week 9 game against the Carolina Panthers, their offense has shown that it has an assortment of weapons to pick from in the passing game.
Against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tucker Kraft had one of the best performances in franchise history for a tight end with his 143 yards and two touchdowns. The yardage was the most in a regular season game by a Packers tight end since Richard Rodgers had 146 yards in the infamous Hail Mary game in Detroit in 2015. Jermichael Finley had a then team-playoff record 159 yards against the Cardinals in 2009.
Kraft has become the Packers most reliable and explosive option in the Packers passing game through seven games. His first two career 100-yard games (124 yards against Washington in Week 2) are the only two 100-yard games for a Packers receiver this season.
Through 7 games, Tucker Kraft is on pace for 73 catches, 1,139 yards and 15 TDs. Only 2 TEs in history have hit all 3 marks in a single season: Gronk in 2011 and Jimmy Graham in 2013.

The Packers only have two more performances of more than 80 yards this season with Matthew Golden having 86 yards against the Bengals and Christian Watson having 85 against the Steelers.
In Kraft, he’s the big play threat at tight end the Packers have only had sparingly since the 1990’s when Mark Chmura became one of Brett Favre’s most reliable targets over a four-year stretch (1995 to 1998).
Kraft’s two career 100-yard games are already the same as Chmura had in his career, both coming in 1995. Including playoff games, the 100-yard games from tight ends the last 30 years have come from Chmura, Keith Jackson, Jermichael Finley, Richard Rodgers, Jared Cook, Jimmy Graham, and Kraft.
Packers 100 yard receiving games by a tight end, since 1995 (includes playoff games*)
| Year | Player | Yards | Opponent |
| 1995 | Mark Chmura | 101 | Minnesota |
| 1995 | Mark Chmura | 109 | Cincinnati |
| 1995 | Keith Jackson | 104 | San Francisco* |
| 2009 | Jermichael Finley | 128 | Minnesota |
| 2009 | Jermichael Finley | 159 | Arizona* |
| 2010 | Jermichael Finley | 103 | Buffalo |
| 2010 | Jermichael Finley | 115 | Chicago |
| 2015 | Richard Rodgers | 146 | Detroit |
| 2016 | Jared Cook | 105 | Washington |
| 2016 | Jared Cook | 104 | Dallas* |
| 2018 | Jimmy Graham | 104 | San Francisco |
| 2025 | Tucker Kraft | 126 | Washington |
| 2025 | Tucker Kraft | 143 | Pittsburgh |
Kraft has also become one of the Packers best options inside the red zone, with five of his six touchdowns coming from inside the 20. Kraft is well on his way to one of the better seasons for a Packers tight end when it comes to touchdowns as well. In the last 30 years, two Packers tight ends topped the 10-touchdown mark; Robert Tonyan and Keith Jackson and five others had at least seven in a season: Chmura, Finley, Rodgers, Bubba Franks and Tyrone Davis.
Most Regular Season Touchdown Catches for Packers TEs since 1995
| Year | Player | TDs |
| 1995 | Mark Chmura | 7 |
| 1996 | Keith Jackson | 10 |
| 1998 | Tyrone Davis | 7 |
| 2001 | Bubba Franks | 9 |
| 2002 | Bubba Franks | 7 |
| 2004 | Bubba Franks | 7 |
| 2011 | Jermichael Finley | 8 |
| 2015 | Richard Rodgers | 8 |
| 2020 | Robert Tonyan | 11 |
| 2025 | Tucker Kraft | 6 |
The Packers have relied on three players to do a bulk of the touchdown scoring this season. Josh Jacobs has nine touchdowns in the first seven games of the season, followed by Kraft’s six and Romeo Doubs’ four.
With the addition of Christian Watson, eventual return of Jayden Reed, and steady improvement of rookie first round pick Matthew Golden, this should allow the Packers passing game to become more diverse as the year progresses.
The Packers are still near the top of 3rd down conversions as 48.3% converted, a few percentage points behind the Chargers at 48.7%.
The passing offense is currently 10th in overall yards, but is 4th in yards per attempt, yards per catch and passer rating. Love is behind Drake Maye, Jared Goff and Jalen Hurts in passer rating with 112.8 so far this season.

With Packers averaging around 60-65 plays tuff to get every one going.
Would like to see 68 a game. 5 plays more can make a difference.
They will try to stop Kraft now like Jacob’s and others will need to step up.
Only half way lots of changes ahead and division games coming up.

When the turnover margin swings, it will get them the extra possession and the plays that come with it.

Packers offense operates on explosive plays or plays over 20 yards. I wouldn't worry about play counts so much when your offense routinely gets yards in chunks.

Each of the drops cut at least 3 plays from the offense's platter.

Really surprised I didn't see Paul Coffman (don't know about my spelling) on any of those lists. Is my memory playing tricks on me as usual? I always considered him one of the Packer all timer TEs so maybe my memory if forgiving. He always seemed to be there for a clutch first down or TD.

He did not go back that far, but you are not wrong. Coffman ended his career in Green Bay with 322 pass receptions, then fifth-most in team history and the most by a tight end. He averaged 13.1 yards per catch and scored 39 touchdowns.
He was a 3 time Pro Bowler and still holds the Packers record for the most productive season by a Packers TE: 814 yards in 1983. He has the most TDs by a Packers TE in a season with 11 in 1983 as well (since tied by Bob Tonyan).
Kraft currently has 469 yards and 6 TDs, so both of those records may fall this year, but to date Coffman is the gold standard as an offensive weapon at TE.

Thanks, I looked back and saw I missed the "since 1995" disclaimer. Glad I didn't exaggerate my memories. Those 82-83 years were right in my wheelhouse as I'd attended lots of Packer and Brewer games back then while I was living in Door County.

After years of not having a TE the Packers have the best one on the league. I don't even think there is an argument for another player. With Watson looking like he hasn't lost step and Reed coming back the passing game should have all the weapons they can ask for. Get the run game going a little more and this offense should hum. Love has always played better during Toyatathon season which is Nov thru Jan.

I like the thought that Love has always played better later in the year.

Toyotathon starts "mid-November" this year, no specific date given. Woop up on the Detroit kittens in their house! One of the most important games this regular season.

That's less than a half a percentage point, js.
