Packers Calendar: Getting an Update on Datone Jones' Ankle

Packers coach Mike McCarthy may have more to share during his Friday press conference.

There was only one apparent injury coming out of the Green Bay Packers' 42-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday evening, and that was to defensive lineman Datone Jones.

Jones left the field under his own power during the second quarter with an injury to his right ankle and was later carted the locker room.

The team announced during the third quarter that the 2013 first round draft pick would not return, but already with a sizeable lead, they may have just been erring on the side of caution.

No official update was given on Jones' health in the aftermath of the game.

Head coach Mike McCarthy meets with the media for his typical day-after-game press conference at approximately 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday, scheduled to be streamed live on Packers.com, where perhaps McCarthy will give an update on Jones.

The Packers were already thin along the defensive line coming into the Vikings game with B.J. Raji on injured reserve and Josh Boyd being placed on the inactive list due to a knee injury the previous week.

Injuries precipitated the promotion of Luther Robinson from the practice squad just hours before the game. The rookie saw a lot of snaps for the first regular-season game of his career, likely influenced by Jones' exit.

The good news coming off a Thursday game is that the Packers have 10 days until their next game against the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 12 and a mini-bye week of sorts, which will be beneficial to Jones, Boyd and the rest of the team's injured players.

I'm wondering whether cow's internal sources tell him that Datone will be on IR soon. Just as Bulaga is already on IR. Oh wait...
