Packers Calendar: Coaching Changes to Be Announced

Head coach Mike McCarthy and select assistants will meet with the media starting at noon CT on Thursday.

The Green Bay Packers will announce coaching changes on Thursday, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

Numerous reports have been leaked over the past few weeks, although nothing has been finalized up to this point.

The first hammer fell last month when special teams coordinator Shawn Slocum was fired. Assistant Ron Zook is reportedly next in line to take over the special teams job.

Then Sunday, reports emerged that there would be several promotions on the offensive side of the football, including Tom Clements being named associate head coach along with taking over play-calling duties for head coach Mike McCarthy.

Wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett, meanwhile, would be promoted to offensive coordinator, while longtime NFL coach Mike Solari would be addeded to the staff.

Finally, it was learned the Packers would hire former Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Jerry Montgomery as a quality control coach.

It's possible the Packers unveil another coach on special teams and possible new job descriptions for those coaches returning.

The organization has not yet published any information regarding online streaming of Mike McCarthy's press conference.

Also notable on Thursday, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am begins in California minus quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has not been listed among the celebrites participating.

Rodgers has taken part in the annual PGA Tour event in each of the previous three seasons. Last year Rodgers was paired up with Wisconsin native and pro golfer Jerry Kelly.

It's been an atypical offseason thus far for Rodgers, who first missed the Walter Payton Man of the Year press conference at the site of the Super Bowl and now not attending the golf event.
