Packers add former Ravens scout to senior personnel position
The team will reportedly add former Ravens national scout Milt Hendrickson to a prominent position under GM Brian Gutekunst
By PackerAaron
As Bob McGinn reported earlier during the Green Bay Packers 2018 season, the team is indeed bringing former Ravens scout Milt Hendrickson to Green Bay in a prominent front office position.
Former #Ravens national scout Milt Hendrickson has officially accepted a senior personnel department position with the #Packers and is with GM Brian Gutekunst in Mobile, Ala., for the Senior Bowl, a source said.

No word on exactly what Hendrickson's title will be, but McGinn indicated it would essentially be an assistant GM role when he originally reported the news back in December.

It's nice to add an experienced scout from another team after so many guys have been going the other way recently.

The Ravens excel at drafting defense as well. Evaluating defensive talent is a big need for the Packers who have wasted enormous amounts draft capital on failed defensive draft picks.

I've read that Hendrickson is very good at identifying offensive line talent, fwiw. Might well be good with defense as well given the Ravens talent. IDK. Still, looks like an excellent hire.

I read a Bio piece on him that singled out his advocacy for Ricky Wagner as a 5th rounder as one of his success stories. Wagner had been a fixture on the Ravens OL for a fair amount of time before signing a FA deal with Detroit. The Packers sure could use someone that can identify late round OL that turn out better than Kofi Amichia and Caleb Schlauderaff.
I know the make up of the coaching staff is the hot topic of the day. But upgrading the talent evaluators in the scouting dept is just as big of a deal to me. There is no way that is not suffering with all the departures since the SB win. Too much talent going out the door and not enough coming back in through it.

I like the fact that it's someone from outside the organization. Bring in a new mindset and maybe methods to add to all the 'home-grown' folks.

I like this hire--we need all the help we can get. A different methodology for evaluating defensive prospects/players is MOST welcome.

Hendrickson is a Wisconsin native and huge Packer fan. He and Gute are close, they tried to make this happen early last year when Gute was first hired. But Hendrickson was still under contract with the Ravens and Ozzie Newsome blocked it so they waited for his contract to expire with the Ravens.

I'm sure the Browns are feverishly trying to contact Hendrickson as we speak.

How dare you refer to us as Green Bay east! BTW Are James Campen and Joe Whitt available?

Like this type of move. National scout and Wisconsin roots.

His guitar version of “The Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock is unforgettable. So glad that MN did not try to lure him West with their Purple Haze connection.

No, no, TK, you're thinking of Ricky Henderson. Played with Country Joe and the Fish at Woodstock, and later the Montreal Expos. Man, that dude could run for a heft-hander!

Only TK's joke got any downvotes. [Way to go, by the way.] Interesting how that happens when comments think what GB did was good. In Gute We Trust is picking up steam.

If Milt Hendrickson can do as good for the Packers at drafting players as he did for the Ravens then the Packers defense will improve considerably. He kept the Ravens defense ranked at or near the top of the NFL for a long time. Something the Packers have not achieved in quite some time.
