Seriously, trade up from #52 in THIS draft? When we have no first-round pick and only 7 total, 3 after 200. I am always for looking at ways to trade back for extra picks, especially when we have multiple targets in an area of the draft, or we have none. Trading up always costs more unless a team is desperate to move back. No No No!!!

Exactly. With 7 picks Gutey can't realistically hit on all the positions of need or even come close to that

The Packers got an extra 5th for Wicks this year. They also could have as many as four 4th rounders in 2027 and could certainly use one to move up this year.
I'm not saying they must, it all depends on how the board falls, but I'm fine with them going up to about pick 45 for someone they really like, just as I'm fine with them going back a few picks and picking up an extra 4th this year. i'ts all about how the draft falls out. You need to consider all options, or you are just making it more difficult for yourself.

Before listening to this podcast, I wrote this on the FootballsFuture site.
"Pick 52 looks like it might be in the middle of a 'dead zone' for the Packers, a little high for DT Big Citrus, or OGs Rutledge and Dunker, ILB Trotter or CBs Abney II and Igbinosun (for example), and too low for DT Miller, CBs Cisse or Johnson, Edge Zion Young, or even OT Iheanachor."

Pretty similar to what you are saying............and I would have added DT Banks to that list but i thought there was no chance he falls to the 44, 45 area. He's not a finished product by any mans, but LORD, he has all the tools to be a monster.
One thing that needs to be considered (putting aside the idea of using Wicks as part of a trade) is using our 4th rounders in 2027. We could have as many as 4x 4th rounders next year (their own 4th, the 4th for Gary, 4th comp picks for Willis and Doubs). While I don't normally like giving up picks from next year, we could afford to give up at least one of them as part of the cost of moving up and still have 4ths in 2027 to spend.

This is a draft to trade down in on paper. There is almost no one I’d trade up to get who is so significantly better than others to warrant surrendering a pick and likely to get as far as the mid second round. Sure really strange things can occur, but the rarely get as strange as it would require for me to support a trade up.

Thank you for showing some sanity CW. I also can't envision anyone who falls that far that we could afford to trade up for them. If one of the big name Edges are not available @ #52, trade back for picks.

Wicks is gone. Just announced Wicks traded to the Eagles for a 2026 5th rounder and a 2027 6th round pick. Great job Gutey!!!!!!!
And he got a $12.5 million 1-year extension.

Does that get us a 4th round compensatory pick next year?
