Unless it turns out that one team has a superior personnel match up over the other in some area(s) we're probably looking at two close, down to the wire games similar to last season and a split of the meetings. Whoever loses today get payback down in Chitown in two weeks.
If the Packers don't have turnovers and/or special teams gaffes I like their chances. Chicago's defense is beatable. They are 28th in rushing and 22nd in pass defense. They've allowed over 100 yds rushing in 8 of 12 games and have give up 150+ 5 times. Their 5.2ypc average is 30th in the league.
They've also given up 24 td passes (29th in the league.
A big deal is made about their high turnovers total. Eighty one percent of that is in 7 games and over 57% has come playing against JJ McCarthy, Gino Smith, Spencer Rattler, Joe Flacco and Mason Rudolf. A lot of their takeaways are really "gifts" from the opposition.
Their Pythagorean record (based on points scored & allowed) is 6.5-5.9 which is basically around .500. The Packers is 7.8-4.2. Green Bay doesn't have a loss by more than 3 points this season. The Bears, when they've lost, have taken a decisive beat down.
Home field and weather are not big deals to these two. The Packers have considered Soldier Field a "home away from home" for years and Da Bears have scored some successes at Lambeau. If the Packers score their "comfort" total 27 pts.and don't beat themselves they should walk away the winners in this round today.
