Douglas is good at reading the play and anticipating where the ball is going. Unfortunately he is the only one on the team that can do that.
My hope for Stokes to replace King and improve our secondary has now gone down in flames. At game 11 if he still is looking lost, he more then likely doesnt get it. Its like a QB who cant read a defense to save his life, you cant coach it. Its mental.
Perhaps he is better suited for Safety with more time to think and speed to close on streaking receivers. a lot less thinking involved.

Did you even listen to the podcast ? They (and I) am seeing things very differently. Stokes, who is still a rookie, is regularly matched up with the opponents best receiver (because Alexander is out).

He is doing absolutely fine for a rookie and signs are that firstly, he is getting better, having invaluable reps against top level receivers, and secondly, that he will be a good player for the Packers for the long haul.

When you have Alexander back healthy, along with Stokes and Douglas and (if he is still with the Packers) King, you have a very fine secondary.

Just for reference, pro football focus had Rams CB Jalen Ramsey, JALEN RAMSEY, targeted 7 times last Sunday.................. and 7 passes were completed against him.

As for Stokes being unable to improve (by coaching) at reading defenses, What the ??? Of course he can learn to diagnose better over time. If you doubt that, just remember how Charles Woodson taught Nick Collins how to study tape to turn himself from a super-athletic raw prospect into a pro-bowl quality safety.

You sound like you are mistaking Stokes for Josh Jackson, who DID need to see the QB to make a jump on receivers (at college, his final season had him make a ton of breakups and interceptions). That is another story altogether.............. and btw, Stokes is way, way faster than Jackson.
