OT Anthony Belton won't be available vs Cowboys

The rookie lineman suffered an ankle injury in practice on Wednesday.

When Thursday's injury report was released, it was hard not to notice rookie offensive tackle Anthony Belton had been downgraded from Limited participant to Did Not Participate.

Asked about Belton on Friday afternoon, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Belton was injured during Wednesday's practice, While LaFleur indicated that the injury shouldn't be a long term concern, Belton will not be able to play in Sunday night's game in Dallas.

Looking at what the team might do at right tackle against the Cowboys, the team could start Darian Kinnard, who they acquired from the Eagles on roster cutdown day. While it might be possible to see second year lineman Jordan Morgan asked to play right tackle, he'll most likely be filling in for the injured Aaron Banks at right guard.

The team also recently signed rookie undrafted free agent Brant Banks from the practice squad, though it seems unlikely they'd throw him in the fire on the road in a big prime time match up.

There's also a more extreme possibility of moving Elgton Jenkins from center to right tackle, which would obviously have a cascade effect on the remainder of the line.

Simply put, none of the options are great for a team desperate for a better performance up front after the disaster they put on tape in Cleveland.

I saw he was on the injury report, along with Banks and Tom.

Not a lot of good options. If you play Morgan at LG, then perhaps he and Walker can give us a stable left side. You'd still need a RT and Kinnard is probably our best bet....we can help him out with a TE .

Walker-Morgan-Jenkins-Rhyan-Kinnard. That's one I didn't consider in the preseason.

Jenkins has been a huge disappointment. They said when they drafted him that center was his best position. Maybe he shouldn't have skipped OTA's. Maybe we should have spent $77 million on a good player instead of on Aaron Banks. Morgan is a left tackle, so Green Bay has played him at RT, RG, LG? Good news is Dallas isn't very good and I suspect Micah will have a monster game. Hopefully down the road, when Tom gets healthy, the OL will improve.

Hopefully, down the line the Packers move Jenkins back to LG and either L. Smith or Monk proves playable at center. Banks was/is a huge financial mistake. Make him the 77 mil backup and move on.

I don’t think it is 77 million pancakes. I think mostly guaranteed money. 27 mill

I would buy some farmland in Wisconsin

Monk needs to step up….he gets an opportunity next year…

I still would like to see them bring in extra linemen at some point vs tight end if they stack the box.

We should be able to run and pass with some one on ones ..

When Kinnard played I believe we ran the ball well.

Morgan will step in and take ownership of the left guard spot.

We will get a seal here and a seal here and run the ball in the alley.
