Of course the Packers will call about Deebo Samuel

Aaron reacts to the news that Deebo Samuel has asked the San Francisco 49ers to trade him. The Packers will undoubtedly make a call. Will the 49ers even pick up the phone?

I hope they find a way to keep him. Last thing the Packers need is another team trying to jump them in the draft to grab a WR.

It should even out as they team who receives him then won’t be as needy at the WR position. Send him to the Jets who are positioned in front of us in the draft.

David Stearns also just called about every player on a 40 man roster in MLB and the top 10 prospects in every team's system.
Just in case.

I don't know where he will end up, but I do know unequivocally where he will not end up: Green Bay. Not our type of deal to make.

However, I will say, at 26, Debo is worth the big contract that I'm glad we did not give an aging Davante.

At the end of the day, the Pack will draft their next superstar WR, not trade for him.

Don’t do it these diva receivers are turning the NFL into the NBA , demanding trades and getting overpaid , move up and get Garrett Wilson is a better move .

It seems to me the diva QB's like Stafford and Rodgers were out there demanding trades (they call it 'requesting' when QBs do it for some reason) and getting overpaid before the WRs were doing it.

Deebo would look good in Green and Gold, but I think he will go to an AFC team, or an NFC out east.

If I were Gutey, I would call every WR in the draft this year and ask them one question.

"What are you going to do after we draft you and 3 years in you've played well and want to get paid? How are you going to handle that?"

Then I would add that information to making a decision. Some guys are like Deebo and some guys are like Cooper Kupp. (Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, Randle Cobb, Davante Adams, Allen Lazard) I don't remember any of those guys making a fuss.

There are some guys that definitely will be a problem when it comes to money. I would stay away from those guys, when possible.

They are not stupid enough to tell you if they would do this. Who would be

Greg Jennings? Lol

See, that's the thing. I think Kupp would say exactly what he said today. I think Jordy would've said, "Those things I leave to my agent." Honest people are going to be honest.

If Gutey asks a guy before the draft and they say, "I promise I won't be a problem." and then they are, Gutey can remind them that the Packers do reward their corner-stone pieces, but do it in their timeline. The NFL is tough enough without players being a problem. I understand guys want to get paid. Keep your mouth shut, do your job, be a team player and you won't have to worry about getting paid, because you will.

I think someone is in his ear, and players need to be mindful of the business side of the game. Do the 9'ers have a habit of not paying their players? (Pretty sure they do.)

I think this is actually more about how the 9'ers abused him last year with so many touches. If they're going to use him up, I would want to get paid too. If top WRs are getting $20 million and top RBs are getting $7 million, if I were Deebo I'd want $27 Million a year, since he's filling both roles.

It would be like a LT getting paid RG money. That wouldn't fly.

I think Deebo sees the writing on the wall and Shanahan using him up on his rookie contract and then punting him. I don't blame Deebo, I might want a trade too. Almost the same BS Le'Veon Bell went through with Pittsburgh using him up and throwing him away.

I agree that the Packers pay their own, it's been proven time and time again (despite what some yell about the Packers being cheap).

That said, "in their own timeline" is kind of a problem from a player perspective. Tell a guy whose next snap could be his last he ever plays that we'll pay you when we're ready, and I wouldn't blame them for looking elsewhere.

Depending on how packers staff can read a person they might be able to tell if the prospect is being truthful and forthright throughout the whole conversation. If you feel they are not being truthful then take a pass.

Deebo says he does not like the way he is used in SF with the body shots running the ball. He wants to be used as a typical WR. I can see the point....Barnes knocked the hell out of him and he was sucking air on the side line but is a tough young man and came back in and hurt us some more. I wanted him in the draft as usual....Gute. It would cost too much in draft picks to my least favorite team and we run a similar scheme he's trying to leave.

The packers will kick the tires and deem the price to steep for a trade. The signing cost is another matter entirely and the cap hit is well beyond the paupers price they can afford. They will be again in the mid but not real contenders for the Free Agent. They will go into the draft and frustrate all prognosticators.

Deebo is surely a talent, but we have two excellent RBs. We don't need a WR who is durable but is sure to flame out. That's why he wants his money now.

That's why he wants a trade. He wants to be a WR, not a RB. He feels he took way too many hits for getting paid on a rookie contract, and I for one, don't blame him.

Since the 9'ers blew all their picks on Trey Lance, they're sitting there with no picks and a disgruntled WR. Wouldn't be surprised if 9'ers pull of a wicked trade with the Jets or Giants to get back in the big game, the Draft...

He wants to make it to his second contract.

49ers still have 9 picks in this draft so they're not void of picks. I'm sure they would love to get back into the 1st round but it's a good draft just to sit and pick. Some team will probably trade them some more picks for Garopalo and maybe a kings ransom from the Jets or some other team for Deebo, maybe GB...minus the kings ransom part.

I love the depth of WR in this class but if the 49ers would take the 28th pick for Deebo I would pull that trigger, I might even do it for 22. GB has a 3 yr window with Rodgers, I would rather he spent that time with a proven playmaker like Deebo than to roll the dice with a rookie who could turn out to be a bust.

They wanted to keep Davante, if GB can get Deebo and keep the extra 2nd round pick, that's a win in my book.

They can either pay through the nose for a great, diva wide receiver or stick with JAGs like Lazard, Grandpa Cobb, and WhereAmI Rodgers. That is reality. It’s professional football and it’s all about the money.
BTW-Nobody will tell you they are going to hold you up for every every last cent they can at the next contract but everyone will do just that. Again, note the term “professional “ before the word “football.” I was in HR and labor relations for 35 years and that is how it works.

That explains a great deal...
