Highest Packers Ticket? Rodgers vs. Brady of Course

Despite virus threat, it's business as usual for ticket sellers.

The NFL has not yet made a final decision as to whether fans will be allowed to attend football games in the fall, but that is not stopping the business of selling tickets. It's full speed ahead for ticket sellers. And what is the most expensive seat on the current Green Bay Packers schedule? As you might expect, it's the week six showdown at Tampa Bay, featuring two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks. The hype for Aaron Rodgers vs. Tom Brady will be sky high leading up to the contest.

I did a scan of several ticket outlets to get a feel for prices for Packer games in 2020. First, a few disclaimers: The prices quoted are a snapshot of the rate right now. These prices will fluctuate depending on circumstances leading up to the game. Unless otherwise specified, the price quoted is the least expensive ticket being offered. Often these are end zone corner seats. Obviously better seats will cost much more. I'm not going to reveal the names of the selling companies because there is so much variation in seat locations and package deals.   The idea is just to give you a sense of what's hot and what's not. Also, there are tons of ticket sellers and I didn't sample all of them. There may be a better deal out there.

Pretty much across the board, the Tampa Bay game is the most expensive.   Most sites are asking around $203 for the lowest priced seats.   I did find one seller starting as low as $182 but that was the exception.   The best seats for this game are already in the $1,000 zip code.   Among road games, the next highest is the week three Sunday night contest against New Orleans with tickets starting at around $163.

I guess that's fine if you are a road warrior and want to attend a game while visiting a tourist city like Tampa or New Orleans.   But are these really the games you would pay the most to see?   For that kind of money I'd rather look into a home game against either the Bears or the Vikings.   So let's do that.

The Packers most expensive home game depends on the seller.   Several are listing the week twelve Bears game, also a Sunday nighter, as the most expensive, with prices starting anywhere from  $190 to $201.  Many others think the week eight game against the Vikings will be in higher demand.   I found  starting rates ranging from $177 to $194.

If you just want the incredible Lambeau Field home game experience and are looking for the least expensive ticket on the schedule, then either the week ten Jacksonville game or the week sixteen Tennessee contest are for you. I found most seats for Jags/Packers starting at around $132. And right now the Packers/Titan tickets may be the best deal on the schedule starting as low as $124. I suspect that by week sixteen this is going to be a huge game and prices will be much higher.

There were a few surprises. You would think an NFC North match-up between the Packers and the Lions in week 14 in Detroit would be a fairly attractive game. But it is by far the cheapest ticket on the road schedule with seats starting at around $63. That price seems sure to go up as the game approaches. And I was stunned to find very modest rates for Green Bay's Thursday night challenge at San Francisco where some vendors were offering seats as low as $107.

By the way, the most extravagant ticket I found was a club level seat for the Green Bay/Tampa Bay game listed at $3,995!   Wine and cheese anyone?

Again, we all need to keep in mind that there are countless variables that will no doubt change these prices as the games approach, not the least of which is whether fans will be allowed to attend games at all.   One scenario is that stadiums restrict the number of fans attending to allow for social distancing.   What that would do to ticket demand is anybody's guess.

If you are thinking about getting to a game to cheer the Green and Gold this fall, and you don't already have tickets, hopefully this gives you some idea of what to expect and how soon to make the plunge.

Then again, you may just decide the best seat in the house is the one in your den.

I've seen some great games at Lambeau and love the experience. But very hard to beat the best seat in the house, the one in your den. Especially when paired with private bathrooms, world class snacks and front row parking. If only we could time the radio feed to eliminate jbuck and acheman.

I know what you mean. I bought an 80 inch TV just for football and I sit directly in front of it about 7 feet away and it's almost, not quite, but almost like being in Lambeau, especially with the volume UP.

I wonder if they do reduced fan numbers, ( if any) if they just award all the season ticket holders the only seats. Would make me avoid buying any away games then trying get a refund. No thanks

As a disabled veteran, I find the stadium experience to be too taxing on this old body. Yet I cheer and support all the Packers fans who travel well and support our team on the road. You guys support me. GPG!

Good for you Patrick. This is the day all of us should be honoring those brave souls who fought to keep us free/safe and lost their lives in the process. I hope all of us can appreciate the significance of this particular holiday.

I live in California and have season tickets. This may be the first year I don't get to see at least one game at Lambeau for many seasons which will really be disappointing. Attending games requires air flights and motel reservations, but without the prospect of a vaccine being developed, more than a few of us will likely be relegated to the TV if they play. I think it's up in the air whether the Packers or NFL for that matter will refund some or any of ticket prices, so we may have to just eat the cost for this season...bummer.
