David Bakhtiari reportedly suffers significant knee injury during practice

Early reports suggest a torn ACL for the Packers All Pro left tackle.

NFL Network reports that Packers starting left tackle David Bakhtiari, who was noticeably added to Thursday's injury report after not appearing on it Wednesday, suffered a significant knee injury during practice.

Initial reporting indicates it is believed to be a torn ACL.

Bakhtiari was having another stellar season in Green Bay and had recently signed a contract extension making him the league's highest paid offensive lineman.

Expect the Packers to move Billy Turner or Elgton Jenkins over to left tackle for the remainder of the season.

The team has shown they can play winning football without their star left tackle before, but the road to a Super Bowl championship just got that much tougher.

...and the day after Jared Veldheer signed with the Colts

IN EDIT: Veldheer was signed to the Colts' practice squad. I think the obvious move right now would be to try to lure him to the Packers' 53 if they feel he's got anything in the tank.

SHIT. Why can't we have nice things? 96 and 10 aside, we've had the WORST luck since Favre and Rodgers came around. 9 legit shots at a ring since 95 and we come away with 2. Some of this freak playoff luck... some just chokes. But still... eff.

Think about it:

95. So close.
97. WTF.
98. Rice Fumbled
01: Playoff Favre. Sigh.
02: Favre... sigh
03. Sherman, you suck. Go for it on 4th and 1. You have the best rushing team in the league. Also, more playoff Favre.
04: Suspend Randy Moss.
07. Playoff Favre... again... sigh...
09. That was a frigging facemask.
11. Yeah. Death in the football family 3 days before the game. Great.
12. Fire Capers
13. Fire Capers again.
14. Fire TT, MM, Capers and Slocumb.
15: Go for 2 MM!!! Fire MM back in 2014.
16. Fire MM back in 2014. Again.
19. Fire Pettine
20: I ain't giving in yet. But losing your all world LT with an aging QB in week 17 isn't ideal.

She's a covid19 denier, having previously stated that she believes the virus is "a Dim conspiracy". That means she is directly responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths. Maybe you are OK with that. Those of us who know people who have had serious consequences or have died from covid19 are not.

Ok, whether or not she is a Covid denier has nothing to do with her comments about Packer football.

BTW, Covid has affected me personally because I know 3 people to date who have passed due to Covid. My wife lost an uncle, we lost a fine man who worked with me at the Veterans organization where I serve on the Board of Directors and I’ve lost a buddy who I served with in the ‘Nam due to Covid. Additionally my wife is immune compromised.

So no, I am not OK with a Covid denier. I’ve disagreed with Taryn about Trump and a few other political issues however the election is now over and Taryn can still post about the Packers regardless of her thoughts about Covid. Thanks, Since ‘61

YES this sucks but THANK GOD Lindsey is back. Slide Jenkins over to LT, Runyan if healthy (He is right?) to LG, and Patrick and Turner at RG and RT respectively. This O-Line has been doing it all year, moving this guy here, putting this guy there, they've made due and did it well. The Packers (Knocking on wood) are a VERY healthy team right now even with the loss of DB. Lets be happy the Packers already navigated though 3 games of this and did just fine.

Bakhtiari was injured against Houston , Minnesota, and San Francisco. They won 2 of those 3 and they didn't lose against the Queens because DB was injured. This is a close knit bunch who really seems to have each others backs. Just 16 more quarters...

I was thinking this too. Holy crap I'm glad Linsley is back. At least we have some flexibility with three guys who've played LT before. It's not like 2015 when Sitton was out there vs. the Cardinals.

Bottom line, as upset as I am, I think we're in a better position than we were at least in years past.

Have to suck it up. Expect if Wagner is healthy, Turner moves to LT with Wagner at RT. If no Wagner then probably Jenkins moves out to LT with Runyan at LG.

Packers gotta stay focused and not let this become an excuse.

Although the coaches should ideally know best I think the best approach is to maintain as much continuity as possible by making as few a "movements" as possible(if that's possible????). I would move Jenkins to LT insert Runyan/Patrick at LG. Maintain an intact unit as much as possible. If Wagner can't make than Runyan at LG and Patrick at RG. Let the chips fall as they may.

If a radical restructuring is necessary then the game plan should be adjusted and the Packers should not try and do things that a restructured OL can't do. We don't need Rodgers killed right before the playoff!

Yes, terrible news, no diminishing it. (Our best to Bakh!)
However, the Packers can possibly overcome this with determination and strategy.
Let's see who might step up on the line. Perhaps the legend of Elgton Jenkins grows. Maybe another guy or two is ready to show something hitherto largely undetected.
Also, perhaps we roll out Rodgers a little more often; and use the tight ends and fullbacks a little differently; and adjust our play calling somewhat.
Let's see how the Packers handle this adversity.
It's quite a challenge, but in any challenge is an opportunity for growth, and even the possibility for greatness.
With the help of God, may we take this approach ourselves into the New Year.

"Men are nearly always willing to believe what they wish." - Julius Caesar

I've been warning about Bahk and his approaching enemy OX year since Jan/Feb. All is not lost...time for the rooks to step up. I've reposted my post ""My view on 2020 season..." below that was posted just prior to the NFL's first 2020 game. Pretty accurate on the players...off on the record as I anticipated MIN & CHI to offer more challenge in the NFC North.

"First, addressing the injury bug as it's nearly impossible to expect success without health. Injury prone 7 energy is associated with these players for 2020.
Most at risk: Crosby, Bahktiari
Others: Sullivan, EQ, Kirksey, Foster, MVS, King, Njiman, Bolton, Ramsey, Ervin, Dillon

If healthy, players likely to exceed expectations...OX & RAT year born players
OX: Alexander, Gary, Stepaniak, Runyun Jr, Savage Jr, Deguara, Hansen, V. Scott
RAT: Kingsley, Jackson, Sullivan, Crosby, Lewis, EQ

Earlier this year I warned our OL is in trouble due to numerous GOAT year starters (Turner, Linsley, Bahktiari). Their enemy sign, the OX, approaches and officially begins Feb 12, 2021. We're already seeing issues with Turner. I explained that a patchwork OL is likely by season's end. If the 2020 class OL steps up, we could see Gute win GM of the year if these rookies become starters, and, in conjunction, we see the likes of the 2019 & 2018 class, highlighted by the OX & RAT year players mentioned above, blossom. The worst thing Gute can do to mess this up is to re-up Bahktiari in Bahk's enemy year. While Gute stands to shine, Murphy and LaFleur are also born in GOAT years, so heat is coming their way. For Murphy, that may be repercussions of forcing the LaFleur hire. For LaFleur, that may be retaining Pettine, a HORSE. We are in a RAT year and HORSE and RAT are enemy signs. Despite numerous younger defensive players expected to shine, I'm looking for Pettine to fail to "bring it all together" with his brand of defense and be released after this year.

9-7 missing the playoffs"

Wow. Just terrible. Sometimes I just hate football. Injuries play such a huge role.

Tough break. Next man up.

So far, they have survived getting dinged up here and there along the OL. This will be the biggest test yet.

I'm going to say, what nobody else had the guts to say. 30 mil signing Bonus. Mega deal for 4 years over 100mil. Now injuried. This injury cast doubt on Bahk now. Yes it HURTS! But BG needed to wait before he signed him. He's pushed the 30 age, where players just slow down and become injury prone. Bahk is now a stat. In the worse way. But the bigger unseen damage is the cap hit and losing others for an injured player. Bahk may never play up to his All-pro level again. Sure, keep your fingers crossed. But BG jumped the gun to soon with this signing.

Holy crap. This isn't a degenerative knee or a lingering back problem. It's an injury in practice and likely has nothing to do with his age. Unfortunate, yes. Forseeable? No.

It's one thing to argue whether or not the Packers should have paid Bakh, but to use this injury as a rationale in retrospect makes absolutely no sense.

Rationale?- what BS Dobber. Get off my Back. The most injuries in the NFL are on the OL. This signing should have been done at the end of the season!!. Bahk is done for the season. What production? If you don't have a player when it counts. Something has to be reevaluated. This signing was one of panic, more then common sense.

You don't know the meaning of rational. It's not like he has chronic injuries. There was no panic in signing Bahktiari whatsoever, it had been in the works for Months for God's sake. You have no clue! As usual.

Didn’t see this terrible news until this morning. Has anyone actually confirmed that the injury is a torn ACL.

Bak is our most important player after Rodgers. I would move Jenkins to LT since he is our best OL assuming that Wagner can’t go. If Wagner can play mover Turner to LT and Wagner to RT.

We can get past the Bears and with the bye we have 2 weeks to get set for the playoffs. Tough kick in the gut at this point but Bak could have been hurt on the first play of the Bears game. Injuries are part of the game and we need to play through it.

Happy New Year Everyone! Stay well. Thanks, Since ‘61
