Best part of not having a first round pick yesterday? Spared the agony of yet another first-round draft capital felony, especially another "project" taken in a high slot. Late rd 1 masterclass by BUF & SF👏
Teams That Traded Back in the 2026 NFL Draft
Several NFL teams made notable “trade back” moves in the 2026 NFL Draft, moving out of the first round to gain additional draft capital.
Buffalo Bills – GM Brandon Beane orchestrated a three‑trade maneuver to completely exit the first round. Starting with the No. 26 pick, Buffalo traded 26 and 91 to Houston for 28, 69, and 167; then 28 to New England for 31 and 125; and finally the No. 1 pick to Tennessee for 35, 66, and 101. They ended with picks 35, 66, 101, 125, and 167 Sporting News.
Dallas Cowboys – After trading up to No. 11 for their first pick, Dallas moved back to No. 23 with the Philadelphia Eagles, acquiring two fourth‑round picks (Nos. 114 and 137) that could help secure another selection on Day 2 Sports Illustrated.
San Francisco 49ers – The 49ers traded back twice. First, they moved from No. 27 to No. 30 with Miami, acquiring No. 90 and sending No. 138. Then, they traded No. 30 to the Jets for No. 33 (second‑round) and No. 179 (fifth‑round) NBC Sports Bay Area & California.

Thinking that Gutekunst may have even slept a little better last night - without the responsibility of selecting in the 1st round. Incidentally, the first round round has been Gutekunst's poorest round. He's been OK in the 2nd - while doing his best work on Day 3. So his best is yet to come.

IMO - GB needs THREE day-2 picks: CB. NT and OL - in any order. I hope that Dunker is in the mix somewhere.
The key question is how can Gutey maneuver to obtain a third selection.

They would likely need to deal out of round 2, altogether.

A lot of picks until GB is up. Cisse is the only one that gets my blood flowing.
Edit: if we are not concerned about the long term, Lee Hunter could probably come in and help right away. Not sure he has a big ceiling, though.

Have Ye little faith in GM Gute. This team will never get better until they bring in a new GM.

Just watched some youtube tape on him. Gamecocks coach said he's a film junkie, but small sample size I just witnessed??? His tackling looks highly suspect in the highlights...misses squaring up & usually trips the legs...while he appears glue-like, closer examination reveals he's handsy as hell👉a zebra's wet dream. Hope I wrong. Why are you high on him?

He should start in a quarters system. Great in zone, closes fast, and has the ability to play man. He can be a box safety. Not seeing the tackling issues you mentioned. Excellent measurables. 5'11 and 3/4ths with a 41" vertical and 131" broad jump. Con includes just 1 INT last year even though he was a wide receiver early in his career and he did not run a 3 cone.
I have been fine with Nixon and I have been a big supporter of Valentine, but I love this pick. Yeah, wanted the NT but Orange or Parker might be there at 84. I think Corleone has to come with a pick that has 3 digits.

Now we get into philosophy. How much do you want to win now? If now, then arguably GB should take Orange or Darrell Jackson. But Newt's list of best left is compelling: Connor Lew (I love Connor Lew), CB McCoy, OT Tiernan, CB Neal, Orange, TE Joly (No!), Lance, Dunker, WRs Williams, Surrat. I would be fine with DDS.
Edit: I am not a fan of Tiernan but I like Lew and Dunker. I might push Jalen Farmer up higher if GB had a good OL coach.

McClennan - what? Not a bad day 3 prospect. I don't understand the need to trade up.

Will do. I just did a search and found the tampa bay blogger (joshua Queipo of Pewter Report) who has McClellan end of round two or early round three, which is as high as I have found so far.
Edit: Big Citrus to MN. I guess it will be easy to compare those two for a while, anyway. I should know better to list 10 players I like when GB is 10 spots away from picking.
