Choosing the Perfect Gift for Members of the Packers Organization This Holiday Season

The Green Bay Packers will be facing the Cleveland Browns on a Christmas afternoon matchup at Lambeau Field. With the holidays upon us, here is a look at what the ultimate gift would be for members of the Packers organization this year. Feel free to add your own ideas in the comments.

Here’s what we’re leaving under the tree:

For Aaron Rodgers: A healthy toe for the playoff drive.

Rodgers has been playing through the pain of a broken toe for the last month or more. Getting that injury healed so he can be at full strength for the playoff drive would be a perfect gift for A-Rod.

Another NFL MVP and a Super Bowl MVP wouldn’t hurt either.

For Davante Adams: A New Contract

Tae is having another outstanding season and he is one of the best if not the best receiver in the NFL. He is due for a huge contract and has made it clear he wants to earn as much money as he is entitled to this time around.

Adams return may be tied to what Rodgers decides to do this offseason but hopefully, the Packers can re-sign Adams and keep him in Green Bay for another four years or more.

For David Bakhtiari, Jaire Alexander and Za’Darius Smith: A Return to Action In Time for the Playoffs

These three Pro Bowl players have all missed significant time this season. Bakhtiari hasn’t played a down since injuring his knee in practice late last season. Za’Darius hasn’t played since Week 1 because of an injured back and Alexander has been out since suffering a shoulder injury against the Steelers in Week 4.

The Packers would get a big boost on both sides of the ball if they can get these three players back in time for the playoffs. It would make the Packers the favorites in the NFC.

For Matt LaFleur: A Special Teams Unit That Does No Harm

LaFleur has led the Packers to three straight NFC North Division titles and a 37-9 record in almost three full seasons. Both the offense and defense have shined at times during his tenure as coach but special teams have been an absolute disaster.

For LaFleur, the improvement of the special teams unit to just being average and not hurting the team on a weekly basis would be the perfect gift this year.

For Jordan Love: A Chance To Show What He Can Do

Love started one game this season on very short notice when Rodgers missed the Chiefs game due to Covid. Ideally, if the Packers win their next two games, the season finale in Detroit may not mean anything for playoff seeding.

If that’s the case, the Packers will likely start Love and he would have an entire week to prepare as the starter. A strong performance by the former first-round pick would go a long way towards boosting his confidence and the confidence of the Packers organization if Rodgers doesn’t return in 2022. If Rodgers does sign an extension, a good game by Love could enhance his trade value this offseason.

For De’Vondre Campbell: A Contract Extension

The Packers signed Campbell to a one-year deal this past offseason to play inside linebacker. Campbell has far exceeded expectations and has played at a Pro Bowl level this year.

Campbell has been the best inside linebacker the Packers have had in a decade and he is still in his prime. He’s been a great fit in Joe Barry’s system and should get a healthy new deal from the Packers.

For Mason Crosby: Confidence In His Holder and Long Snapper

The Packers veteran kicker has struggled all season with his timing in part due to issues with his long snappers and holders. As we head into the playoffs, the Packers kicker needs to feel confident that the ball will be snapped and held properly and that the timing on his field goal and extra point tries will be flawless.

Crosby has been a clutch kicker throughout his 15-year career with the Packers. They may need him to come through again in the playoffs this year so he needs to be ready.

For Marcedes Lewis: A Ring

“Big Dog” is in his 16th NFL season and the 37-year-old former UCLA star has never won a Super Bowl. He’s been to three conference title games since 2017 but his teams have lost all three times. A classy leader like Lewis deserves to go to and win a Super Bowl and the Packers hope this is the year he gets it.

For Joe Barry: R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Most Packers fans were skeptical when the Packers announced Barry as their new defensive coordinator this past offseason to replace Mike Pettine. Afterall, Barry had been DC two years in Detroit and two years in Washington and all his units ranked near the bottom of the league statistically every season.

But this year, the Packers have a top 10 defense statistically as Barry put his system in and the team ran it well. Keep in mind, the Packers have been without their best pass rusher in Za’Darius Smith since Week 1 and without their top cover corner in Alexander since Week 4 and they’ve still been able to have a top 10 defense.

Barry deserves credit for the team’s strong season and a little respect after dealing with all that skepticism.

To Packers Fans Everywhere: Another Championship

The Packers haven’t won a Super Bowl in more than a decade and the fan base is hungry for another. The Packers defeated the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV and after so many disappointments in NFC Championship Game defeats, fans want the team’s 14th World Championship this year.
