By BrianMaafi

Name: Brady Christensen
School: Brigham Young University
Year: Redshirt Junior
Position: Offensive Tackle
Measurements: 6’6 300
STATS:
General Info:
Attended Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah. A two-star recruit coming out of High School. Fulfilled his two-year Mormon mission in Hamilton, New Zealand. He is already married, marrying his wife in 2019. Redshirted his first year at BYU. Started every game at left tackle three years straight. He has an interesting stance, kind of similar to David Bakhtiari's.
Positional Skills:
Positives:
He has good size with decent agility. Christensen has good arm length as well to keep defenders at bay when he is able to lock out his arms. The BYU product keeps his back strait and does not bend at the hips. He bends at the knees. The 6’6 tackle is quick out of his stance. Christensen moves well when he is going forward, he actually does a decent job at getting to and blocking 2nd level defenders. On film he shows good hand placement, he tends to block with his hands wide, which is fine because it works for him. Power rushers do not usually give him too many problems; he has decent strength for a guy who is listed at only 300 pounds. Brady does a good job of keep his hands up in pass pro, allowing him to get a quick fast punch on the defender. He has strong hands, when he locks on a defender, they have trouble disengaging from him. The dude is young for a redshirt junior who already did his two-year Mormon mission; he is only 23 with some growth potential. Brady gets out in front and shows good awareness blocking in the screen game.
Negatives:
His feet look a little heavy in pass pro when he is going from side to side. His athleticism is average. He struggles with quick, fast, bendy type of pass rushers. Christensen will over extend himself too often and will end up on the ground. He needs to learn how to stay within himself. Blocking moving targets down field does give him trouble, it really shows his lack of great agility. Power rushers will still get a push him back into the backfield at times. He needs to add more strength to hold up better once he starts going against NFL linemen. Christensen will catch rushers at times instead of engaging them, which causes him to lose ground.
Fit with the Packers:
His average athleticism and kind of robotic feet would make you think he wouldn’t be a fit for the Packers, but he actually is a decent fit. But not in the way people think. He would be a good fit as a guard in Green Bay. He is listed at 300 by BYU but he looks like he could put on a few more pounds and get into the 310 range. There is no way he can be a left tackle in the NFL except maybe in some type of emergency situation. He could be a right tackle for a number of teams though. It’s just with Green Bay’s zone system he is probably does not have the desirable athleticism that they would want at tackle. But at guard he would be ok. He can get to the 2nd level and block linebackers and he has good size. He would bring a lot of versatility to the Packers offensive line which they like. He could develop into a starter If he learned to play within himself, refined his technique even more, work on his feet, and flexibility. I would not expect it though, if he does it will be a nice surprise. His lack of any special athletic traits does hold him back a bit. But he has a high floor and has some development potential at guard, where his ceiling is probably higher than at tackle. At the very least he could give the Packers depth and versatility on the offensive line which is something you always need.

I agree he's a better fit at RG. He looks like a Day 3 pick to me. I can think of guys I'd rather have in the 4th round, but after that, he'd be a possibility.
These are OTs that I think will be still be availble at 29. IMO, we might be able to trade down a few spots and still get one of these guys, and I think any of them would be able to start at RT for us. IF we could trade down to about #38, or #40, and still get one of these guys, it would give us another pick that we could package to move up in the 2nd or 3rd round.. That would essentially give us three picks between #40 and #75 or so. Tackle, Cornerback, Defensive line.
