2020 Practice Round Up: Day 1 - August 15

PERSONNEL/GENERAL:
Kenny Clark's $25M signing bonus is the most ever given to a non-QB by the Packers. Silverstein [This might deserve an asterisk because Clark already had $7.69M guaranteed in base pay for 2020. Matthews got $20.5M and ZaDarius got $20M. TGR]
No split practice. No pads.
TE Sternberger, LS Bradley, DT Treyvon Hester, attended practice but did not participate. Probably close to being called up.
OLB Roberts was not at practice: he is listed on the Covid Reserve List.
ILB Kirksey on Dillons' legs: "As a linebacker ... you wanna say if you're in the hole and hit you up top, but then you see how big he is and you want to go low. But then he has those tree-trunks for legs." Hodkiewicz
Kenny Clark said Pettine is going to move him around more this year. Kruse
Deguara shows broad shoulders and it looks like Tonyan filled out his frame. Hodkiewicz
Deguara: After rotating with tight ends in position drills, he slides over to fullback in routes on air. Then he gets a fullback rep in team drills. Ryan Wood

AJ Dillon is a large person with huge legs and calves. Everybody

LaFleur said the right side would be a daily competition between Turner, Wagner and Taylor. Hodkiewicz

Love throws a TD pass to Kumerow. Schneidman [Against Ento, per Ryan Woods]
Another nice rep from Jake Kumerow, working back to the sideline when Aaron Rodgers flushes to the right, following the scramble rules for a completion on a broken play. Ryan Wood
Tyler Ervin getting some reps at slot WR. Kruse
Begelton looks quick and looks to have good hands. Intruguing WR prospect. Schneidman
Lazard caught a pass over the middle from AR while Begelton snagged a post from Boyle, and Fulgham catches a pass underneath from Love. Hodkiewicz
Boyle had some well-placed passes for big gains. Silverstein
Boyle isn't losing QB2 anytime soon. Schneidman
LINEBACKERS:
Raven Greene had a PBU of an AR pass in the end zone. Hodkiewicz
Oren Burks is the second ILB to get reps (after Kiksey). Schneidman

I chose Boyle for the photo because he seems to have had the best day actually doing football things, followed closely by Kumerow. Josh Jackson got beat on one pass apparently and also was in coverage on another completed pass but he had excellent coverage: it was one of those "Wow" passes from AR.
The most important development (save Clark's extension) is the competition at RG and RT. It looks like there will be daily competition for starting jobs over the next few weeks per LaFleur. Pads aren't scheduled for a while though.
Clark was disruptive and Keke flashed, but I couldn't find the tweet again and they weren't in pads anyway.
AJ Dillon is a large man. Everyone said so, including the media guys and multiple players. Dillon looked smooth, apparently.
LaFleur did note that Love has things to clean up and mentioned footwork.

Thanks for the update. Boyle could be worth some trade capital if his improvement continuous and also nice to see a backup LS.

Agree. I think a lot of teams are going to carry 3 QB’s this year.

It’s early but I expect that the team keeps three QB’s on the roster.

Why would you trade away the QB with with "improvement continuous" as you put it and the best chance of winning some games if AR gets injured? The only trade scenario is if Love out performs or is equal to Boyle. Then there is the covid-19 random factor where a team can lose a QB for 2 weeks.

Yes, I agree with Patrick above: GB is almost certain to keep three QBs on the roster, in my opinion.

"Then there is the covid-19 random factor where a team can lose a QB for 2 weeks."
Or a whole season. Who's to say? It's starting to look like Gute is a bit of a gambler, and they might decide--given the roster losses sure to happen this coming off-season--that roster spot is more important beyond 2020 spent somewhere else.
