Cory's Corner: It's Fight Or Flight
The Packers are without options now. They have to win in Chicago if they want a chance to play in the postseason.

The Packers are now backed into a corner.
You never know how people will face a tough situation until they are staring fight or flight directly in the eyes.
The Packers don’t have any wiggle room now. The Bears are 10-4 and are currently the No. 2 seed in a loaded NFC playoff field. The Packers are 9-4-1 and are the No. 7 seed. If the playoffs started today, the Packers would be making the trek down to Chicago for the NFC Wild Card Game.
That isn’t ideal and it’s also why the Packers have to do whatever is necessary to win on Saturday night. If that means digging deeper into Packers coach Matt LaFleur’s bag of tricks — so be it.
The defense is now without Devonte Wyatt and Micah Parsons and Lukas Van Ness was limited in practice on Thursday. The defense is going to look a lot different than the product we’ve seen — mainly because No. 1 will not be chasing the opposing quarterback like a heat seeking missile.
“Give our defense and give our team adversity and watch what happens,” said Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. “And we’ll find out.”
I applaud Hafley’s “Win one for the Gipper” mentality but let’s face it, the defense had a hard time stopping the run against the Bears in the second half last time with a healthy Parsons. Hafley will be forced to put so much attention up front to stop the run that the back end will eventually be exposed for a big play, especially on a well-timed play-action.
Which is why the Packers have to score and score often. Now is not the time for LaFleur to be proud about scheming his guys open — he should be running pick plays, motion and bootlegs to his heart’s content. This is why LaFleur was brought here. He is an offensive mind and now Green Bay needs that offensive mind to not only win this game but keep the Packers’ playoff hopes alive.
This is the game where Jordan Love proves why the Packers surprised so many by offering him a $55 million contract after a small sample size. His footwork has to be sharp, his reads have to be clean and this team cannot afford for him to have any bad decisions.
A bad read against Cleveland gave Green Bay a disappointing loss in September. A bad read on Saturday night will not only give the Packers a loss but could very well end their season.
There are plenty of people that have already signed off on this team because Parsons’ season is done after tearing his ACL in Denver. The Packers still have plenty of talent on offense to win.
The only question is: Will it be fight or flight?

“Hafley will be forced to put so much attention up front to stop the run that the back end will eventually be exposed for a big play, especially on a well-timed play-action. “
Weather will be a factor with predicted straight line wind around 15 MPH and up to 30 MPH gusts. That will make the game more difficult to pass accurately. In that case, I’ll take Love over Caleb.
We’ve analyzed this game to the 10th degree so I’m not going there anymore. I agree it is flight or fight…..GPG.

Fight or flight? Not really.
Lose the game and the Pack still has an excellent chance for their 3rd straight 7th seed in the NFC playoffs.

Death, taxes, and the refs and/or the NFL has it in for the Green Bay Packers.
I know there are a number of folks on here that seem to believe that there is some conspiracy against the Packers, pretty much anytime they lose a game, whether it's from a certain referee crew, or from the NFL itself. I could never understand the rationale for why anyone would feel that way as it seems to defy any kind of logic I can come up with.
I would love for anybody on here that thinks that way to give me, at least a somewhat rational reason, why they feel that's actually a thing.
Not trying to be snarky here . I'm really curious.

December 20, 2025 at 12:32 pm
There is no conspiracy against any particular team or player. That being said, the officiating in the NFL is horrendous and needs to be greatly improved given all the money that rides on these games. It's really surprising to see all the easy stuff they manage to get wrong; lining up in the neutral zone, the 30 second clock mismanagement, 12 men on the field, faulty spots of the ball. And lately, they even seem to be screwing up the replays. They can't even get it right in super slo-mo! Why they can't have full-time refs who are accountable for their mistakes? I think Roger likes all the free publicity they get when sports shows rail about the incompetence. OK, I think it's bad publicity but Roger apparently thinks any publicity is good

I think an early lead would help the defense immeasurably. And after that, some time consuming drives. Those 3 and outs on O so often lead to the D getting gassed. GPG!

I agree that the attitude displayed by both the players and the game plans on both sides of the ball will be telling. I’m going to be very interested to see what adjustments are made to the active list and the changes in approach, particularly on D, now that we’ve seen this offense once. We should learn a lot about the Packers coaches today.

As I'm sure most people know, the subheadline is blatantly misleaading. The Packers do not need to win this game to make the postseason. All they need is two wins, or one win and a loss by the Lions.

If the goal is 'making the playoffs'
We (Packer Nation) had higher goals in the past, just like the Packer teams had in the 90's, 2,000's
I still have higher goals (expectations) but i am only one voice.

I still think the goal is winning the division. A win here puts the Packers ahead by half a game, so there will still be work to do. A loss does not quite make it impossible to win the division. They would then have to go 2-0 while the Bears go 0-2.

From what I read, PFF had LVN rated as the 12th best edge on pressure rate last year. We’ll see, but I think his high draft status makes him a punching bag for fans. I really don't want to hear fans trashing Love as he will have to play 4 quarters with an unstable O-Line & w/o Tom.

I'll be watching Cooper & Quay closely this game. They need to wrap-up when they have a tackle opportunity. Remember when Cox played in a Bears game and he never bit on the fake hand-off for roll-out and had a deep sack. Would love to see that type of focus watching for the backside rollout by Williams.

This is a repeat, but it's applicable....
The Packers have a lot of high priced talent, High draft picks, and free agents.
Micah is out, he wasn't there last season when the Packers made the playoffs
If the Packers win...Fantastic!!
If they don't, they only have someone themselves to blame.
*****
Yes, Micah is a loss.
This is the NFL, there is no crying in the NFL.
When you lose a player...what do you do to adjust for the loss?
Players 'step up'
Team plays complementary football.
Maybe Love and his plethora of receivers score more points?
Maybe the defense creates turnovers, possibly scoring turnovers i.e. pick 6, fumble recovery.
Or just a good turnover that the offense can take advantage of, and score.
Maybe even special teams...could do something special?
This is a team game, play complementary football.
Head back up to Green Bay late Saturday night, with a victory.

"Maybe the defense creates turnovers, possibly scoring turnovers i.e. pick 6, fumble recovery."
The Packers are 7-0 when they are + and are 1-1 when they are even in TOs this year. That means they're 1-3-1 when they lose the TO battle. The Bears are 9-0 when they are + in TOs, but even (1-2) or minus (0-2) is a problem for them. TOs are always a pretty good indicator of success. I agree that taking care of the ball and forcing TOs will be key tonight.

His highest completion % is from the pocket. When pressured in the pocket his accuracy declines to around 44%.
His tendency is to roll right when pressured, looking for the check down guy. He is less accurate on the move going deep. If he moves left, the play is usually designed to vector left with a trail guy and his accuracy moving declines significantly.

If the goal is winning the division, winning this game doesn't guarantee the division nor is it the only path to winning the division, but it makes it much easier. The playoff race between Chicago, GB, Detroit, and SF for three spots will be an interesting one down the stretch.
Assuming Kinnard is ready to go, people are more concerned about the Tom injury than I am, but I expect the Bears to focus on hitting that side in their pass rush--which isn't very good. Yes, they sacked Sanders 5 times last week, but the Browns are beat up and starting 3 second stringers and their third C on their OL. The Packers should be able to throw tonight.
Start fast and keep punching. If the Packers have to play from behind, this could be a tough night.

The extra OL/heavy set was good for 6-8 snaps per game prior to Denver. If it's something that the Packers value, they've moved someone else into that role. I'm concerned that they're going to use their meh blocking TEs in that place instead.

It’s a character game. The packers core has playoff experience, and this is like a playoff game. I would expect penalty free, assignment sure football. If we all had a nickel for every time we were backed into a corner without any wiggle room and had to dig deep into our bag of tricks, we'd have several nickels, I bet. This Packers team is a wounded animal, cornered, dangerous, ready to fight for its life. There's no magic wand to wave, no secret scheme to lead us to a victory over these so-called newly minted Monsters of the Midway. They'll be no flight in this fight. Like Forrest Gregg said, "when ya git the armadill-ah down on it's back, ya snap its neck." Then Ken Stills went out and poleaxed Matt Shuey. Sure, the hit was a little late in the ref's opinion, but that's the kind of intensity we'll bring tonight.

Poor wife a packer fan had to watch this fiasco. I told her the stupider team lost today. Hafwits defense that everyone braggs about did it again allowing a QB at the last minute realize, wow you can pass the shit out of this team, just throw over the middle into the zone and you will move the freekin ball all day.
Flacco found that out too late but almost saved the day for the lowly bungels against us, and if the moron Nixon hadnt made a miraculus interception against Jameis an average QB who looked hall of fame against us we wouldnt even be in the mix.
Bottom line I said the pack couldnt beat the vikes lions or bears and three loses takes them out.
