I just read that Brett Favre, 54, has revealed a Parkinson's diagnosis. Prepare for a lot of CTE stories. Personally, I believe what I've believed for 20 years: It's the helmet. You can't put a piece of padded, bulletproof plastic on the head of a 22 year old, 250 lb man and expect that he's not going to hurt somebody, maybe himself.
I'm biased, of course, but the leather helmets had that advantage.

Parkinson's is a horrible way to die, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There's substantial research that ties onset to upper GI issues rather than brain. That said, would anyone doubt Brett Favre has CTE?

I don't doubt it. But it's interesting that he reveals this as he's under investigation for his financial dealings . "Be nice to me. I was famous. Now I'm sick".
His alcoholism was a sickness. His Vicodin addiction was a sickness. Be nice to him.
