Good: Seeing Adams dominate.
Bad: MVS is regressing, ESB is MIA even when he is in the game.
Ugly: Some of the fasted 3 & Outs ever in the second half.

Incorrect. 3 of MVS' 4 targets were bad throws by Rodgers (his drop was awful though).
ESB was used as a decoy on offense, but he produced two spectacular plays on special teams in punt coverage (downed one on the 3 yard line and was first man to the receiver on another and would have made the play had he not drawn a holding penalty).

MVS can't make a play unless he is wide open and has a perfect ball. Nuk hopkins and Allen robinson are catching every one of those passes. He just has all the physical traits but none of the ability to do those things. They had to give him a handoff for him to have a noticeable impact on a play. I don't know what ESB is a decoy for. You have to be offensively relevant to be a decoy. MVS is the real decoy. Special teams is great and all but it was starting to look like it's Adams or nothing at Wr again.

Good: Davante Adams
Bad: Ty Summers. Looks like he should be playing DIII football somewhere, not the NFL.'

Ty Summers also was a 7th round draft pick. He is still raw and needs a lot of work. Throwing him into a starting role against these last few teams has been really bad for him.

Summers was drafted to more or less be a ST ace, which he is. Anything he does on Defense pales in comparison to his ST contributions. Judge him on his ST play, not his play on D.

Summers is terrible. They have favorites. No way Burks play is any worse. Summers is ST only.

I only thought MVS should have caught 1 of those 4 passes.

I think a trade is necessary for a receiver , nobody really is stepping up , even when Lazard comes back there is no real standout .

Good: 12 --> 17, the return of Preston Smith

Bad - playing to the level of the competition. Shoulda been blowout but we let them back in to make it a game.
Ugly - Petine defense. Pass rush is avg and pass d doesn't exist
Good - Adams and TE play. Too bad we lack receivers.

Houston has a top tier, deep receiving corps. Green Bay corps of CBs handles Houstons corps of receivers; 3 of which would be #1 receivers on other teams plus Cobb.

Lot of speculation about those receivers possibly being available. I can't say any of them did much to impress me, but they have stats that suggest they are nice players. Watson did end up throwing for 309 yards but only for 126 at the half. Still, 126 isn't terrible (68 to Cobb in the 1st half).

Its the nfl dude. And they have a great qb. Hes gonna make some plays. Lazard will be back. Hopefully gute actually trades for a wr.

Good:-All round play from both sides of the ball.
Bad:- Ty Summers seems a little lost and the special teams blocked punt.
Ugly:-MVS...This guy could hardly catch. One trick pony that's his speed and even with that i doubt he'll come up with all the catches.

Relax about the special teams. They used many players for the 1st time who made some mistakes. Blocked punt was on Dexter Williams, later replaced by Jamal Williams. Once some of the starters come back special teams will be improved. I am worried about the over reliance on Davante. We need more and better weapons, but it won't happen this year. Gutenkunst thinks 3 years ahead, satisfied with making the playoffs and hoping for a miracle.

Dexter Williams was the lone reason that punt was blocked and he couldn't even recover the ball. He was very out matched and out of his element on that one. I'll give him a pass. MVS, not so much.

If Lazard gets healthy, he's a legit #2 in my opinion. We've got to get a receiver early in the draft, or get a quality wr via free agency. MVS and ESB are well below average.

Agreed on Lazard. Adams and Lazard actually make for a nice WR1/WR2 duo, and if/when healthy, Tonyan/Sternberger/Deguara seem like they'd be a strong TE core.
That said, we do need another WR. I'm guessing we'll draft one this upcoming year, although I do think WR will fall behind OL/DL/CB (if King leaves) in terms of importance.

ESB made two flat out spectacular plays on punt returns, so it wasn't completely ugly.

I wouldn’t call it over reliance on Davante; I’d call it continuing to go with something that our opponent couldn’t stop.
Good: a well balanced team victory that gives us 3 road wins. Most of the teams in the league won’t win more than three road games all year.
Good: No interceptions or fumbles, no hard hits onRodgers.
Bad: The blocked punt and the failure to cover the onside kick.
Ugly: MVS. I’m souring on him faster than a glass of milk on a hot summer day. If you’re going to be an NFL receiver, you must catch the ball when you get your hands on it. Everybody drops one from time to time, but he’s done it too many times already. He has all the tools and a golden opportunity, but he’s screwing the pooch.

I think it's weird that people seem to think that getting your #1 WR that many targets, catches, and yards is bad (in a win, no less), but if Tonyan or MVS would have that kind of game it would be a great thing. Why is your #1 being a #1 such a problem?

There is nothing wrong with Davante getting 16 targets. However, the wide receivers not named Adams had 2 receptions on 7 targets for 6 yards and a touchdown, which was schemed open.
Sooner or later the Packers will run into a team that has a shut down corner who can limit if not shut down Adams, stressing the offense in the absence of talent in the other receiving options.
Is that the case? IDK, but I rather think so.

DeVante was great but I will give the good to LeFleur/Hackett. It is hard to get wide open in the NFL. Outside of one sideline completion to DeVante and one back should, every completion was to a wide-open guy.take it
The bad is the injuries but....some key guys should be back next week.
The Ugly-Hard not to go with Dexter. Gave up the punt block on a block so bad the Texan had to slow down to block it--then had a chance to take it off the bounce and run for a first but he dropped that chance to.

The good: Aaron Rodgers being a hero, run defense, aggressive defense with all of the injuries.
The bad: Run blocking, Dexter Williams missing a block and losing the recovery, the onside kick recovery
The ugly: MVS. I have seen him drop just about every ball that's throw his way this year. He is never on the same page as Rodgers and he can't separate from his man. Not sure what it is, but it's quickly approaching cut time.

Should have cut MVS two years ago. To think we cut Fulgham and let him go to the Eagles, and he's been one of the leading receivers in the league for the last three weeks. Then, instead of calling up Foster when Adams went down, they continued to play MVS and let Foster get snatched off our practice squad by Washington. Foster was an all-rookie receiver in 2018, as fast as MVS, a better route runner and with much better hands. They couldn't see this on tape and in practice? MVS should have been given his walking papers with Allison when both were in the bottom five WRs in all of football last year. There are teams trying to rid themselves of some decent WRs. Go get one Gute!

I think back to how many people complained about Jeff Janis. He had speed to spare too. But, unlike Janis, MVS is not a ST contributor.

I bet the Jaguars were thinking the same thing when they saw how Lazard was playing prior to his injury. Sometimes those things happen.

You're right of course, good players sometimes bounce around before they hit the right spot and are given an opportunity... but the bigger point is continuing to start MVS when he's been less than special. Why haven't others been given that opportunity?

We've seen enough. This is his consistency. Put up some decent numbers in weeks 1-4, make some people fall in love again and forget last season, drop everything that comes his way the next 4 weeks, and then ride the pine the last half of the year.

The Good: Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams and seeing Barnes and Kamal Martin in the game.
The Bad: MVS. Just feel like he disappears. Is it AR doesn’t look for him, plays not designed for him or he doesn’t make plays. Probably all of the above. Just expect more from him.
The Ugly: Blocked punt.

Even if we don’t resign Jones or Williams for next season, he’s still behind Ervin and Dillon. I don’t see much of a future for him here.

After Adams all the Packer WR are #4 at best and that includes Lazard. MVS is a #6 WRyou hope might develop, which he hasn't. Time to cut bait.

Good- Davante Adams, Montravius Adams, Jamal Williams, Kamal Martin, the o-line, our TE play was solid too. Good blocking..coverage was solid in the secondary, Kenny Clark....the run defense had its best outing
The Bad-MVS simply is what he is now in year 3, not a great player, EQ barely played, the Ty Summers Chinese fire drill, he should be behind Burks now too
The Ugly- lack of a block on the punt by Dexter Williams. Holy crap that is nearly worthy of a release.......

The Ugly: Blocked punt and On-side kick.
Greene played well until he was injured. Hopefully he’s back next week.
It was pretty clear during this game that Adams is our only NFL level wide receiver. M. Taylor and Shepard are probably ahead of MVS and ESB at this point. Need Lazard back ASAP. Ervin’s return would help as well. Until then it’s all on Adams. Thanks, Since ‘61

ESB downed a punt on the 3 and was about to tackle a punt returner for a loss when he was blocked in the back (negating a 19 yard return and setting the Texans back further).
He made two absolutely spectacular plays from the gunner position, so he wasn't bad at all.
I'm pretty sure at least 1, if not 2 or 3, of MVS's 4 targets were on Rodgers (though one of his targets was a horrific drop).
Taylor and Shepherd are still not good at all and almost never get targets because they can't get open. They were really bad in this game, and I at least saw MVS being very adept at being the 'rub' guy on stacked routes without using his hands to hold and yet always freeing up Davante.
Davante was open a lot because of MVS.

No offense friend and let me tell you I totally despise when people insult someone's opinion, but this is NUTS!
I'll agree with you on Shepherd, Taylor though has been FAR more productive his last 2 games than MVS. Last week a key 1st down (or was it the week before?) and Sunday a TD. I'll also agree w/you to a point about running rub routes but MVS has ben horrible in the #1 thing a WR MUST do...CATCH THE BALL.
I'm starting to think MVS has some photos of Packers brass cuz his play doesn't warrant a position on the Packers.

I was watching him very carefully on passing downs and it seemed that they wanted him to be the interference guy with the rubs (and he does a remarkable thing I'd never noticed in the NFL before, which is that he keeps his arms hanging down and doesn't get caught for a foolish offensive holding penalty).
I counted him as the rub guy who got Davantae open on 7 of his 13 catches.
3 of his 4 targets were bad throws by Rodgers, who was a little bit off all day on throws over the middle (Davante had to adjust on the TD and Tonyan would have had one, and there was another play where the ball was badly behind Tae). One of those 3 was atrocious and another one nearly impossible for MVS to adjust.
The one catchable ball was a truly terrible drop, a failure to take advantage, but you can't expect the rub guy to get a lot of targets, and Rodgers also needs to be a little better on certain types of throws to him.
He's maybe slightly lacking in focus at times, but he's mostly completing his assignments well and doing what is asked.
The production from Taylor is an illusion. The first down was key, but the TD was a gift from Rodgers to a guy who likely won't be around next year.
MVS will still be here and probably starting to figure it out.

Three years in and still hoping he'll figure it out? He looks awkward and doesn't have great hands. Let's try Shepherd or Taylor running his routes and see what happens.

MVS is bad. Taylor is JAG. Ervin isn't a traditional WR. EQ is... who knows.
Our WRs still suck after Davante. And it's a real problem.

The Defense with Barnes and the glimpse of Martin at ILB can make a difference. Especially with the recent play of Adams. Like the front 7 moving forward. Need 1 more player on O. I think the team mentally would get a boost from another threat at WR.

The Great: Rodgers and Adams.
The Good: Defense in general, played they're best game of the year and Contained Watson.

The Good: Just about everyone showed a little something good. Team effort.
The Bad: Ty Summers. He's not a starter.
The Ugly: The onside kick.
The wrong criticisms: ESB and MVS.
ESB had 2 spectacular plays on special teams, downing a ball on the 3, and drawing a hold just as he was about to tackle the punt returner (which gave us even better field position).
MVS suffered at least 1 horrible throw on his 4 targets and I thought only 1 was right on target (I felt overall that Rodgers should be credited with 3 misses). He was also used in the stack formation frequently and was often the reason another player got open on those rub routes (he's a big guy and I notice he has an interesting technique on those routes of letting his arms drop completely to his sides so that he doesn't draw an offensive holding penalty; he's taking a lot of hits in what seems an interesting new way to help his team mates get open).
A lot of encouraging signs, particularly on defense and with how many high caliber players didn't suit up.

I thought I saw similar stuff with MVS. HIs off the ball work was good, the rubs and also blocking on WR screens and the like. I guess one thing he could do is get those arms up when the ball is coming his way.

Oren burks is the bad. He played one series and just fuckin stood there until he got blocked.
The good. Besides the obvious dudes like 12 n 17. Raven greene. Montravious is really stepping up. P smith def heard the chatter from all yall. Both ots. Z. Vernon scott hanging on.
Ugly. Oren burks. Again. That long run by d johnson. Burks had an angle but just stood there frozen. Hes not a rookie but he plays like its his first game every single game. So yeah hes the bad and the ugly. Im not gonna write off mvs yet.

Yet Summers is somehow worse than Burks.
I expect one of them to get cut when Kirksey returns, but I'm excited if Martin and Barnes are the primary players at that position.
Thanks for being the only other person on this site who isn't giving up on MVS.
This was a game about little things--wasn't it important that Josh Jackson stopped the first Texans' drive on a tough 3rd down play, yet no one mentioned it?--and the little things that both MVS and ESB did were important to getting other players open and with ESB TWICE pinning the Texans deep.

I try to always look at the little things. 2 weeks ago when davante and lazard were out mvs caught every ball thrown his way. Hes a 3rd or 4th wr. Ill take that from a 5th rnd pick. As a 2nd option yes, he can be disappointing. But as the 4th guy? He can make plays. And he has definitely improved this year. Yesterday was davante day. We didnt need mvs. Against the falcons we needed him and he had 4 catches for 42 yards no drops. Is that amazing? No. But he did his job. The jury is still out for me.

For a R3 pick and a reduction in salary to $5MM/yr. Neither is very likely to happen.
We just lost 2 nice looking WRs from our practice squad while we continue with MVS et. al. KRAZY!
Go find a WR in trade market this week.

As I have said numerous times, MVS nd St Brown are 5th and 6th round picks. It is few and far between you get a #2 WR out of picks like that. This will show up against tougher teams and defenses. For all of you that said we did not need to draft a WR, you will continue to find out why we should have.
Lazard might be an anomaly but I need to see more from him yet to say he is a true #2.

MVS and ESB will both be out of the league once the Packers decide theyre done with them. You defend our receivers like you dont see what Tom Brady and Russell Wilson have the luxury of throwing to. Our receiver group without Lazard will never ever ever be able to contribute to us beating one of the top tier teams, among other reasons.

Good: Barnes and Martin are our starting ILBs from now on. Adams was a pleasure to watch against Hargreaves. Jamaal kicked butt and had fun doing so. The Smiths returning to form. Raven Green looked good, for the most part. The kid who dislodged the ball with his helmet which was recovered by GB.
Bad: Summers and Burks looking lost. MVS 0-4. Our pass defenders missing sure INTs.
Ugly: STs on the onside kick and the blocked punt.

MVS was only 0/1, as the other 3 were clearly on Rodgers (1 for sure and 2 that were not easy balls).
I have him for one drop, not 4 (targets alone don't tell the story and perhaps ESPN and the NFL need to provide some deeper stats in game).

Good: O-Line 7.9
Good: TEs stepping up (actually catching balls) 8.0
Bad: D is wishy-washy in consistency -4
Bad: No individual defensive threat(s), no play makers that cause concern. -8
Bad: LBs give up way too much on short passing. Low on talent. -8.
Play-offs? Yes but won't get far with this D. :(
Is this due to Petine, no talent or all of the above? Time will tell.

Rob_S, I gave you a thumbs up because I agree the D will likely hold us back, but I disagree there are no players on D. Jaire may not have interceptions but he's regularly shutting down #1 receivers and is likely on his way to being an All-Pro. Z. Smith and Clark are also top 10 at their position and cause problems for other teams. Those are the only three really good players, but there are also a few up and comers; Green, Barnes, Savage... my biggest issue is Pettine. Let him go and I believe the D will improve.
