Packers Go Secondary In the Second Round, Select Miami Ohio's Quinten Rollins
The Packers surprised their fans by selecting another defensive back early in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Ted's gonna Ted.
That's the only possible reaction to the Packers making Quinten Rollins their second round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft.
While many Packers fans, including myself, had visions of an inside linebacker or defensive tackle falling to the Green and Gold, Thompson selected Miami, Ohio cornerback Quinten Rollins.
To quote my buddy Lance Zierlein:
Rare start-stop-start suddeness. His ability to change gears instantly gives him a chance to develop into a talented cover cornerback. With more work on technique and overall discipline, Rollins has the physical tools to become a very good NFL starter.
Despite his tweener status amoung most scouts, the Packers will play him at cornerback.
Here's our live take from the CHTV Livestream, complete with my meltdown at the absurd negativity the selection received from some fans:

Rollins is a stud. Only 1 yr at CB, whatever I dont care, dude is gonna be a playmaker. The guy really has great ball skills but I might be more impressed with his tackling ability and his willingness to lay the smackdown on fools.
Joe Whitt Jr. is GBs best defensive coach without a doubt, so giving him 2 rawish CBs to coach up is more than fine by me.

Agreed, Clay. The kid can play. All three rounds, TT went after ballers. Zealous ballers.

I love this pick. I have been high on Rollins since the senior bowl. He is a playmaker. I have said for a long time now he is the most intriguing player in the draft.
I love his ability.

I believe we talked about Rollins once upon a time. Cam Chancelor 2.0 in my opinion. This kid is gonna disrupt passes AND lay the wood. Favorite pick of the whole draft.

Pete Dougherty made a compelling argument in an article a few days ago that ILB isn't as big of a need as CB. With that in mind, I like these first two picks. And with the WR in the third we got better kickoffs and possibly some jet sweeps. All of this I like. I do expect some LBs , DTs, and OL to get the call in rounds 4-7, an honestly, it's not going to take much to improve our ILB play over last year, is it?

I didn't see that article but he's 100% spot on. You can survive with a poor run defense. You cannot survive with a poor pass defense.
It's critical that you go into the season with 4 CBs that can play. 3 are on the field most of the time. And you have to deal with injury. NFL QBs will find and exploit a weak spot. Before the draft, the Packers were counting on Demetri Goodson and Tay Glover-Wright to be 2 of the 4, in addition to Casey Hayward assuming a larger role that some question his ability to handle. Adding some competition to that mix is a very good thing.
And while it's not been as big of an issue as it had in the past, I think we have seen the last of Jarrett Bush in GB.

No it's not. It's almost like addition by subtraction. There are some good ILB prospects out there that can't help but be an upgrade.

#1: Nagler, you won the day in that video.
#2: WTF don't people understand? This is a passing league, the more DB's on the roster the better... especially when adding fucking playmakers like we did... interchangeable fucking playmakers even. #SwissArmyShoe
#3: Fuck what the bears are doing.
#4: Fuck what the queens are doing.
#5: I'm not sweating ILB. Ted obviously has a plan. Maybe Bradford and/or Thomas are ready for primetime. Plus, you just know he's got one that nobody has ever heard of from Podunk State on speed dial when the sixth round comes... hes got his eye on somebody.
#6: Joe Whitt Jr. is one impressive sumbitch. Seriously should get a look as a DC in the not so distant future. Bright guy.
#7: Cow, you have no honor, you human turd.
Great draft so far!

A 2 on a guy with such light experience seems a tad high but perhaps that is why I'm not a professional scout. Generally speaking, my favorite TT picks are the ones that leave me scratching my head a bit.
I sure don't mind using the first 2 picks on replacing the two most significant losses of the offseason in House & Williams.

MAC DPOY in his first year playing football since high school? Ball hawk in a passing league with huge upside? I'll take it.
I know they addressed the return game with Montgomery in the 3rd round but with this kid's quick first step and good hands I'd love to see him give punt returning a try. Anyone know if he did that in college?
