Broncos Shopping CB Alphonso Smith

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Denver Broncos are shopping cornerback Alphonso Smith, their second-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

According to La Canfora, the Broncos would take a fifth-round pick for Smith.

The Broncos traded a 2010 first-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks--who selected free safety Earl Thomas--to move back into the second-round to select Smith, who totaled 14 tackles and three passes defensed in 15 games as a reserve last season. Smith is behind cornerbacks Nathan Jones and Perrish Cox, and the Broncos really like the upside and return ability of 2010 seventh-round pick Syd'Quan Thompson, making Smith expendable.

Smith signed a four-year, $4.83 million contract, but only $750,000 in guarantees remain, and those guarantees are for injury-only.
