Vikings Activate WR Sidney Rice Off PUP

The Minnesota Vikings announced that they have activated wide receiver Sidney Rice off the physically unable to perform list.

Rice had surgery on his hip during the off-season, and has been on the PUP list since the opening of training camp. The 2007 second-round pick out of South Carolina had told ESPN's Ed Werder that he was playing on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

"I'm going to play," Rice said on Friday. "I don't think I can go the whole game but I'm going to play as much as I can."

Rice is coming off a breakout season, catching a team-high 83 passes for 1,312 yards and 8 touchdowns, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl. In 42 NFL games, Rice (6-4, 202) has caught 129 passes for 1,849 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Rice is scheduled to be a free agent after the season.
