Titans Rookie DE Derrick Morgan Undergos PRP Treatment

After once again injuring his left calf, Tennessee Titans first-round defensive end Derrick Morgan is undergoing platelet rich plasma treatment to expedite the healing process, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.

According to orthohealing.com, the treatment involves drawing blood from the arm and spinning it in a centrifuge for 15 minutes, which removes components that do not aide the healing process. This increases the concentration of baseline platelets, which possess healing and growth proteins, and what remains is injected into the injured area.

Morgan is being counted on to make an immediate impact, but has struggled thus far to stay on the field. He discussed how his latest injury came about.

"In OTAs, I pulled one part of the calf and (Sunday) I pulled the other half of the same calf," said Morgan. "One had healed and I guess I was still sort of overcompensating, so that's what happened."
