Titans Release LB Jamie Winborn

The Tennessee Titans have released veteran lineman Jamie Winborn, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.

Tennessee needed to clear a roster spot for linebacker Gerald McRath, who is coming off a four-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. McRath is expected to immediately move into the starting lineup.

Winborn (5-11, 230) had started three of the Titans' four games this season, totaling 8 tackles on defense and one on special teams.

A second-round pick (47th overall) out of Vanderbilt by the San Francisco 49ers in 2001, Winborn has totaled 350 tackles, 10 quarterback sacks, and three interceptions in a 102-game career with the 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans.

Winborn joined the injury-riddled Titans last December.
