"The Boz" Describes Seahawks Experience as "Circuslike"

Former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Brian Bosworth describes his NFL experience as "circuslike", writes Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman.

"I was touted as the savior," Bosworth said of his expectations with the Seahawks. "Seattle really didn't have an identity. I was the face of the franchise. It was a little freaky. I can't lie. It was uncomfortable for me."

It's worth noting that the Seahawks had gone 39-25 and made two playoff appearances between 1983-86, and had future Hall of Famer Steve Largent, as well as future Ring of Honor inductees Chuck Knox, Curt Warner, Dave Kreig, Jacob Green, and Kenny Easley on the team when Bosworth was drafted.

"I felt the pressure so badly from people who said, 'We really need to see the Boz, we really need to see what we saw in Oklahoma.' I was just trying to figure out where I was supposed to be on the field...

"They wanted a neck snapped on every play. They wanted me to put my signature on every play. Sometimes, I overplayed the game. I felt like, I gotta destroy this guy.

"It was a transition. Then I got hurt."

Those eight words sum up Bosworth's NFL career perfectly.
