Texans TE Owen Daniels Hopes to Practice Next Week

Houston Texans tight end Owen Daniels hopes to be cleared to return to practice next week, Jordan Godwin of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Daniels will have an MRI next Tuesday, and is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday.

Daniels was headed towards a career year before tearing the ACL in his right knee in a Week 8 win over the Buffalo Bills. In just over 7 games, Daniels caught 40 passes for 519 yards and four touchdowns while playing under the one-year restricted free agent tender.

A restricted free agent once again this off-season, Daniels signed the "First- and Third-Round" tender on June 11 and will earn a $3.168 million base salary.

Chosen in the fourth-round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin, Daniels has 207 receptions for 2,501 yards and 15 touchdowns over the last four seasons, earning Pro Bowl honors and the 2008 season.
