Steelers WR Santonio Holmes Facing Four-Game Suspension

The Pittsburgh Steelers' off-season from hell continues, as Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com cites multiple sources in reporting that Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes is facing a four-game suspension in the 2010 season:

"Multiple sources have advised us that receiver Santonio Holmes is facing a four-game suspension under the league's substance-abuse policy. It's presently unknown whether Holmes tested positive for a prohibited substance or committed some other violation of the policy, such as missing a required test. It's our current understanding that the internal NFL appeals process has not been finalized."

(emphasis mine)

Florio reports that the suspension is for a violating of the league's substance abuse policy, and that an incident last month in an Orlando nightclub, where Holmes is alleged to have thrown a drink in a woman's face, is not related to Holmes' forthcoming suspension.
