Seahawks Trying To Deal Houshmandzadeh

Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports the Seattle Seahawks are trying to trade wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Houshmandzadeh, who turns 33 next month, is scheduled to make $7 million in guaranteed base salary in 2010, the second year of a five-year, $40 million contract Houshmandzadeh signed in 2009 in order to get his watch back from Seattle's then-head coach Jim Mora.

La Canfora adds that Houshmandzadeh's high salary makes it unlikely that any team would bite on the line the Seahawks have dipped into the water.

Houshmandzadeh caught 79 passes for 911 yards and 3 touchdowns last season, but has not shown any signs of being the #1 receiver the previous front office paid him to be. With no personal connections to the Houshmanzadeh transaction, if Seattle's new front office duo of John Schneider and Pete Carroll can't find an interested party to trade for Houhsmandzadeh, they may be willing to eat the $7 million and include him as part of their cuts on Saturday.
