Seahawks Sign 7th Round DE Dexter Davis

The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of seventh-round defensive end/linebacker Dexter Davis.

Terms were not disclosed.

Seattle also confirmed the signing of seventh-round tight end Jameson Konz, and announced the additions of undrafted free agent defensive linemen Will Tukuafu and defensive tackle Barrett Moen.

Tight end Michael Allan, wide receiver Patrick Carter, linebacker Kevin Dixon, and safety Quinton Teal were released to accommodate the signings.

Davis (6-1, 244) started an Arizona State University record 50 games during his college career, totaling 136 tackles, including 45 for a loss, and 31 quarterback sacks, which rank third in school annals behind Shante Carver (41) and current Baltimore Ravens defensive end/linebacker Terrell Suggs (44).

A three-time All-PAC 10 selection, Davis earned first-team honors after his junior and senior seasons.

Davis posted a 4.62-second time in the 40-yard dash at the Combine, the fastest among defensive ends. Davis also did 25 reps on the bench press, had a 9’01” broad jump, and a 35” vertical leap.

The Seahawks expect Davis to be an immediate contributor on special teams, and his pass-rush ability could earn him playing time in the “Leo” pass-rushing position in the Seahawks’ defense.
